New Mexico governor says Howard Dean doing good job

(Bedford, NH - AP) — New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson says that Howard Dean is doing a good job as head of the National Democratic Party.

Richardson, chairman of the national Democratic Governors' Association, made the comments after a speech in Bedford, New Hampshire, today.

Richardson says he wouldn't have made the comments that Dean did, but on the whole he believes Dean is doing a good job.

1. They know Gov. Dean's message is needed....

Somebody has to say it....even though they will be crucified in the press. The other "major" can keep their distance and Dean can continue to slap the shit out of the Republicans. That is the bottom line. We should not be so harsh on those that are "keeping their distance". Governor Dean is doing a job they cannot do and keep any political vialbility.

5. Richardson is DLC all the way

and he wants to be president. He's gonna suck up now and stab Dean in the back at the first clear opportunity.

However, he's telling the truth. For every prunefaced assertion that Dean is being impolite and turning the party conservatives off, there are likely a dozen people who are delighted that somebody is finally saying this stuff and that it's getting into the press, albeit a hostile press.

Expect Dean to tell the truth. Expect the good puppy GOP press to dislike it. Expect more Democrats to wake up and get involved.

Change in the party is desperately needed, unless the party enjoys being shut out of all 3 branches of government. Whether or not the changes are good ones will have to wait the test of time.

2. Pres Carter just said on Today show that Howard is pointing out

how the repubs have created a "monolithic" presence in DC that stops any movement within their party towards bipartisanship.

Matt Lauer tried to bait him into disagreeing w/Dean and Carter was too smart to fall for that crap.

The tide is turning, imo, and we've all had enough of Dems kow-towing to the rightwing! Dean is doing exactly what he should be doing, imo, he's telling the truth! Glad to see that Richardson is changing his tune!

not to get too close to Biden's comments. Maybe he heard about the outcry the criticism caused.

If so, fine. Richardson also knows that Dean has a large base in the party and he has presidential ambitions.
