Help me out...Why did Frist vote to not invoke cloture on Bolton .....
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 05:16 PM by tx_dem41
last week.

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=1&vote=00129

Is there a reason procedurally that he did this that I am not aware of?

1. I think it's because if he's on the winning side...
...he can bring up the vote again. I heard something about this during the nuclear option thing.

2. Actually it was during the last cloture vote on Bolton last week

that he did it, not the nuclear option.

But yes, he did it because that ensures him the right to call a vote again.

5. Because the sanctimonious phrase "up or down vote"
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 05:22 PM by ashling
only applies when the Fristians are sure they have the votes

7. I am sick to death of....
'up or down vote' and 'sharecropper's daughter'. I guess the daughter one will finally be put away --but not for the reason i wanted it stopped!

:argh:

6. Inevitable
Frist was just speeding the inevitable loss of the cloture vote so he could get on with his roto-rooter servicing of America.
