A major point I think the corporate media is completely missing...

...regarding an attempt to impeach Shrub.

RATINGS THROUGH THE ROOF!!!

It is a factor in just about every other decision they make. Why are they forgetting this important point?

Reporting the truth and bringing down the Rethug administration will be a ratings bonanza.

2. Sorry, there would be no commercials
they would lose money AND piss off diehard fans of soap operas whose shows would be preempted

3. You dont get it- the "let the market decide" is Bullshit.

Otherwise they would have given Micheal Moore, John Stewart and Al Franken their own shows.

Otherwise they would have turned Jeff Gannon into "The New Monica."

It's not about ratings anymore-it's about promoting war.

4. It Isn't About Ratings! It Is About Power!
If it were about ratings, we would have been hearing about Boosh**
regime scandals every night at the top of the news.

Instead -- (crickets).

Boosh** is letting them get bigger and more powerful by acquiring more stations,
and Rove almost certainly has some kind of hold over the network execs as well.
That became totally clear last year when Viacom's CEO very publicly caved in to the Rethugs.

6. like mike moore says, if profits were the motive
General Motors would sell crack....
the entire point of (corporate) mass media is to bore the bulk of the people, frustrate those who see through the bs, while driving nuts rightwingers, who, no matter how things go, still feel they're being cheated (which they are har har says murdock and kristol and podhertz and norquist etc)...nevertheless what you say is true, and highlights the fact that they (the men who control mass media) are connected to bush like they're in a weird sex coupling, and nothing (cold water?) can separate them...like the bolsheviks in 1917 russia, the bush criminals must press ahead to, in trotsky's word 'total victory, or total ruin' (extremists among the bolsheviks murdered tsar nicholas 2nd and his family, including several supermodel looking daughters and the 13 year old heir to the throne, probably w/out lenin or trotsky's ok; trotsky recovered from his shock to admit the action, which if it had become known by the people, would have seen every communist in russia hunted down like dogs, in effect burnt the bridges on the 'soft' revolutionaries, forcing them to acquiesce in the actions of the revolution's leadership....you can be sure the neocons consider 911 similar in magnitude, and the effect is to force mass media to support bush even when it means destroying the reason the US exists)

7. If profit were the motive, CNN would give Moore his own show.
He only produced the highest grossing news documentary of all time.

8. You know, that's right!
Lower grossing talk radio hosts get their own TV shows.

9. And think what kind of ratings the "Gannongate" scandal would have brought
The "we let the market decide" excuse simply does not fly.

10. and the truth is incredibly compelling!
not like the pap they pawn off on the public....a good look at geebush, his friends/ass-ociates and all the tricky little conjobs being run past the distracted public would make live tv an impossible to miss drama that would leave no room for 'commercials' just like on 911 itself, remember?
When one thinks about it, the BIG LIE has been the main ingredient of popular news and entertainment for quite a while already!
