8. Be sure and watch after the gavel come down and Sensenbenner

hightails out of there. Here is a Cliff Note of some of Sensenbenner's sins are as follows"

1 - Sensenbenner hastily called the meeting, scheduling it for a Friday morning @ 8:30 am. Most House members had left for the weekend.

2 - He publicly censured members of the committee by reading their names into the record as not being present for the hearing - when several of them were sitting right there.

3 - limited the time for witnesses to speak, normally they are given 5 minutes each for each Rep. asking questions, he gave a total of five minutes for question and answer. Five minutes to ask a question and four separate people to answer. Period.

4 - he tried to limit the discussion to just 16 items of the Patriot Act, and not allowed a full and open discussion.

5 - he ignored points of order, ruled points of order not "properly formed" and talked over Dems

6 - limited witnesses that had been called to testify. Only four got a chance to speak at all, librarians and people who have been harmed by the PA weren't even allowed a chance to say a word after Sensenbenner forced them to hurry to DC

7 - shut down the hearing without discussion or consent of the committee members

8 - order the microphones shut off so the discussion could not continue - thank heavens C-Span kept rolling

9 - had another repug representative threaten the court reporter to quit recording the hearing after the gavel had come down

Just thought every one could use this list if they decide to write the Reps.
