DSM, what do we do next?

Media outreach/pressure has gone pretty darned well, with fresh news coverage popping up hourly. Mainstream media seems to be slowly catching on, and even the conservative press is busy catapolting the propaganda. More and more people are hearing about the Memo.

Looks like 500,000 signatures to Rep. Conyers letter is a slam dunk, has the bar been raised to 1Million yet?

Will the networks cover the DSM hearings or just CSPAN? I imagine there is going to be a lot of drama, maybe MSNBC will offer live coverage (if they aren't too busy talking about Michael Jackson)?

This past week has been so encouraging, it feels like everyone working together really made a difference. What can we do to keep up the momentum?

Below is a copy of my letter--Everyone should use their own words. But, perhaps it might help as a guide:

Dear Sir/Madam:

As you know, on May 1 of this year a document now commonly referred to as “|The Downing Street Memo” was released into the British Press. This document raises serious question about how the administration was handling intelligence related to Iraq and appears to suggest that the Bush Administration had already decided on war when publicly it was claiming that no such decision had been made.

This document suggest that the Bush administration was determined to “fix intelligence” around a predetermined policy.

It is most disturbing that there has been a virtual media blackout regarding “The Downing Street Memo”. Even more disturbing is the absence in the America media of any credible discussion or coverage regarding strong, credible and independent evidence that the Bush Administration intentionally mislead the U.S. Congress, the media and the American people.

I do hope you will accept the responsibility to address this issue and provide serious investigative journalism into this matter.

Furthermore, on Thursday June 16, 2005, Rep. John Conyers, Jr., ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, and other House members will hold a hearing to consider testimony concerning the Downing Street minutes and questions of prewar intelligence. I do hope you will be giving full coverage to these events.

2. Well, I just signed up some more people

A few more sigs wouldn't hurt. I had some family members who hadn't signed the letter yet. They were more than happy to oblige.

Of course, this keeps the word going, too. The more people who know about the Minutes, the more effective we can be.

3. Maybe someone is already working on this....

but we need to research the news archives. If someone were to consolidate historical press releases of the run-up to war and subsequent investigative findings, and show how this fits into what the DSM alleges, that would be very powerful.

In short, do what a special procecutor would do wtih the resources we have.
