Trying to build plausibility into their 2006 election thefts, and ultimately 2008's. Bush's numbers are NOT going to get better; the worst, quite frankly, is yet to come as a result of his policies. Yet, their control of all of government is the only thing keeping many of them from a vacation at Levinworth. They'll steal the election, no doubt. Not a doubt in my mind at this point. However, what was once a fairly simple task by Rovian standards, explaining away a couple of points in a toss-up race, will become Hurculean when W is polling in the 30's and 40's. How the hell will they dismiss the inevitable discrepencies? Are they already working on the fake exit polls?
Right now, they're screwed. You know it, I know it, America is waking up to it, and that means the rank and file GOP itself will turn its back on BushCo to save their own asses. But then, the thick builliobase of corruption just gets thicker, as the GOP will work its black-box magic only on those deemed friendly to BushCo. They'll tighten their grip, not loosen it.
But it all leads back to what must be becoming a daunting challenge; coming up with a plausible explanation for winning anything but dog-catcher in 2006-2008.
