The Daily Show rips the media over the Michael Jackson Verdict-Video
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/06/14.html#a3448
You knew Jon Stewart would have a field day with 24/7 and the aftermath of the verdict.
He doesn't disappoint as the usual cast of characters that covered the trial offered up monsterous amounts of idiocy as they raced to cover the verdict. Name your cable news program. Go ahead just name one. Oh...and of course there was Geraldo.

1. Has anyone actually paid attention to anything Geraldo has said or
done since AL Capone's vault?

4. Weird background on Geraldo...
Anybody know that, at one time, he was one of John Lennon's best friends? Anybody know that he helped Robert Kennedy expose and highlight the abuses of one of the worst mental hospitals of his time?

Just some weird trivia about the guy we all learned to laugh at.

6. He also graduated from the Brooklyn Law School
A school which is kinda unknown but many consider its grads some of the finest lawyers in the country.

7. Also, he hooked up with Bette Midler. Actually, he claimed
that he did - she said that she didn't think so because she didn't remember him.

He must have benn "infinitely forgettable".

Can't think of a worse put down.

8. Maybe she was just F***ed up.
It IS Bette Midler we're talking about, right?

Plus, he probably WAS infinitely forgettable.

9. really?
"he was one of John Lennon's best friends"

I have no reason to believe that yet.

"Anybody know that he helped Robert Kennedy expose and highlight the abuses of one of the worst mental hospitals of his time?"

Geraldo's exposure of Willowbrook is fairly common knowledge, I think.
But that was in 1972

10. I saw an interview
with him once...he was the interviewee, not the interview. This must have been in the late eighties, early nineties, and it was the interviewer (I can't remember who it was now) brought these things up himself. The friendship with Lennon pre-dated Yoko Ono and had fizzled in the years since. But he was a couple of blocks away when it happened, and he said it hit him like a ton of bricks.

Another thing about John Lennon's death that always amazed me...Howard Cosell interrupted his football broadcast to announce it.
