The press was there, where is the reporting? Not a word in my paper today
I was so mad when I read the paper that I called and e-mailed the editor of The Virginian Pilot marvin.lake@pilotonline.com and let him know. I can not believe that there is no coverage today. What do we have to do?

1. just cancel your subscription to any media outlet
that doesn't report the news

let them know the reasoning you are canceling

2. a lesson is being learned by many -- the press is NOT looking for truth
they are accountable to editors and owners who "have direction"

on what is acceptable. WHEN they are told to bring shrubby down

the ammo is there.

4. The Controlled State Media doesn't give a shit about the news...
that is not their job. Their job is to spread the propoganda and bullshit of this administration.

Unbefuckinglievable...

With 1,715 combat deaths and climbing, the Bush Administration owes the American people a full accounting of how we came to be at war in Iraq. The recent revelations about how the so-called “faulty” intelligence was, in fact, being twisted to match the long standing desire of the Bush Administration to invade Iraq makes it very clear that we were lied to. We were lied to in the State of the Union Address when we were told about nuclear materials being bought in Niger. We were lied to when the Vice President repeatedly insisted that there were weapons of mass destruction aimed in our direction. We were lied to (and the whole world was lied to) when Colin Powell held up a little vial and insisted that the imminent threat demanded an immediate attack.

The war on Iraq was illegal from the word “go” and it was started so that multi-national corporations could carve up their oil fields. If there isn’t a serious, and complete, investigation of when and how we were chased into this ill advised conflict, it may be repeated in Syria and Iran. Then more of our children will die.

America doesn’t ask much of us. To be a citizen here is not onerous, there is not much “hard work”. We do have one duty, however, and that is to be involved in the running of the Country. The government works for us, and if we don’t insist on a clean shop, we can expect that it will be taken over by whoever bullies their way through the “locks” of checks and balances that our founders made for us.

8. PS: That's why WE have to do the reporting
Email any reports you find online (here's one http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4101420.stm) to people you know.

We have to get the word out ourselves. You cannot rely on the corporate media to report this kind of stuff (i.e., news relevant to the public interest).

9. It's not covered, and won't be, until a Senator steps up...Subpoena power.
For all of the wonderful sound and fury of the patriots in the House, they are powerless with out Republican allies interested in saving democracy. Senate Democrats, however, have the power to call hearings with the all important power of subpoena, even while in the minority. Will it happen? Very unlikely, unless there is enough of a groundswell created by Conyers et al through the media with the public. But we've seen how that works, haven't we? Just not feeling optimistic this morning for my country......

10. Trying to make hay of prewar memos - Philadelphia Inquirer
My newspaper had this on the FRONT page, continues on page 20. Read these snips and tell me if you get the impression too, that through no fault of those in attendance, this might just blow over like all the other crap. Here's a few snips and the link.

http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/front/11914548.htm

<snip>Yet even as the political climate seems increasingly hospitable to antiwar talk, most Democratic leaders have remained mum on the British memos. The silence of the loyal opposition is noteworthy. Even party chairman Howard Dean, whose antiwar stance fueled his presidential candidacy, has steered clear of the memos. And none of the party's White House hopefuls have run to the cameras to recite the British line about how "the intelligence and facts were being fixed" by the Bush team.

<snip>This topic was assiduously avoided at yesterday's hearing, but there was some angry buzz about it in the corridor, among liberal activists who, in the words of commentator Arianna Huffington, are "like parched earth, desperate for some drops of truth about Iraq" from their Democratic leaders. The general consensus, shared by political analysts, is that most prominent Democrats are complicit on the war, and hence not well-positioned to attack it now.

<snip>Some political analysts argue that while many Americans may not care to reopen the prewar debate, they might focus their growing ire on the postwar predicament.

<snip>Tim Lomperis, a former Army intelligence officer: "People are focused on results. If peace breaks out and there's a timetable for U.S. withdrawal, all will be forgiven. But if Iraq keeps unraveling, then all bets are off."

Will the chimp and his sneaky cohorts twist their way out of this one too?
