Okay, I had a weak moment and pledged $25 to " Friends of John Kerry".
Before I send a check I got to thinking...Isn't Kerry a billionaire?
Now I am wondering if this group is legit.

I've read comments here saying that the online and US mail invitations are legit, but the phone solicitations aren't. From that I conclude that as long as you send it to one of those addresses you'll be okay.

4. Here's the legitimate web site

I'm told there has been a phone scam going on by people claiming to be fundraising for "Friends of John Kerry", so I wouldn't send money in response to the phone call, unless I checked out that address through the web site first.

3. No, Kerry is not a billionaire

But he may be a millionaire. His wife comes pretty close to being a billionaire. But I'm told they have an air-tight pre-nuptual agreement that keeps their money seperate. Besides, the group funds some pretty cool stuff, like ads that expose *'s corruption, and inform people of upcoming legislation they may want to support.

5. I got a call yesterday.

I had heard that the phone calls were bogus, but now I'm not sure. Obviously a telemarketer, but she did sound legit. Just too pushy. I will donate more to Kids First, but via the website.
BTW, he's not a billionaire, and he and Teresa donate quite a bit to charity.
I don't think, despite their money, that he can or should sponsor a bill to provide healthcare to 11 million children without our help.

It's a great cause.
