Obviously there's a reason, anyone have a clue?
Could it be he's been running off his mouth too much - credibility a factor? what??!!

1. Perhaps he knows he does not always have to be the center of attention?
So long as some DEMS are taking up an issue and taking it to the streets, he can put efforts where a voice is needed? Conyers is doing a fine job leading the DSM charge. Why would Dean try to upstage him?

He's doing it right. If other high profile DEMS are silent, he shows the way. When some of them get up and take the stage, he lets 'em strut their stuff. Makes sense. His job is not to promote Dean but push the party. He's doing that.

6. You got plenty of answers at your original post. Not one you like?
We're just speculating here. Why don't you write the DNC? They might be able to give you an answer.

8. Dean...
...is a party leader.

This is, or ought to be, if it is going to do any good, a non-party issue.

It's an American army that's being ruined, not a Democratic one.
It's America's national image that's being destroyed, not that of a party.
The boxes flown back to Dover aren't labeled 'D' and 'R'.

Legislators, who represent all of the citizens in their districts, even those who didn't vote for them, are the right vehicles to move this crucial national issue.

If you're old enough to remember Watergate, you're old enough to remember the just-this-short-of-succesful Nixon administration efforts to sidetrack the process by portraying it as partisan hackery.

11. I agree
It is not his job to comment on every issue of the day. His job is to run the affairs of the party.
