NEW YORK A pitched battle has broken out between Gov. Jeb Bush and The New York Times--on the newspaper's editorial page.

Two days ago, the Times criticized the governor in an editorial called "Autopsy on the Schiavo Tragedy." While not naming Bush, it denounced "opportunistic politicians" who exploited the case. Today, the Times published a hard-hitting, critical letter from Jeb Bush--and another editorial attacking him.

1. If Mr Sciavo had not called in a timely fashion, his wife would have been DOA. Her heart stopped beating, the anoxia killed her brain. The rescue kept her in a persistant vegetative state.

2. Are you now claiming Michael Schiavo is responsible for his wife's condition? What were the findings in the malpractice lawsuit? Do you think that an insurance malpractice attorney is going to settle for the negligence of someone else? If Mr Schiavo had not called 911 on time, as you are claiming, then the outcome of any medical treatment would not matter. Thereore there would be no malpractice. I'd bet that wasn't in the autopsy results either

How long a delay was there for Pickles to try to save the boyfriend she just killed? Did she administer CPR immediately or did she drag her feet seeking help to hid her drunk driving? How come the records were hidden when B**** was Governor of Texas? Was her delay due to her drinking? Why wasn't the drug/alcohol test made public? Why isn't there an investigation on this???

What about Noel's drug use? Was Jebby involved? His wife is a known smuggler - did she smuggle drugs too?

Open up an investigation, Jeb. You asked that the nation honor your family's privacy during the difficult period of your daughter's drug abuse. Why didn't you honor Michael Schiavo's request? Are some families less important than yours?
