he's a religious conservative catholic, he's also anti-death penalty and feels a moral obligation to help the poor and less fortunate. I knew alot of catholics like him growing up. We may not agree with the Kondracke's of this world on many social issues...but I'd hate to lose all the democrats like him to the other side.
