Why did the media take the Repubs "side" on the Durbin controversy?
And it's not just the Durbin story? It's every story. The Democrats are not given the benefit of the doubt on any issue or question. They are "assumed" to be partisan or on the wrong side of the issue. All the major cables that discussed the issue took the side of the Repubs. "Durbin compared our treatment of prisoners at Quantanamo to Nazis and gulags". In fact, what he said was that "if" you didn't know better, one might think that was where the torture originated. There is a distinction, no matter how the Repubs and the media choose to spin it. The Repubs see an opportunity to go after one of the leaders of the Democratic Party and the media is more than willing to help them in their pursuit - just like with Bill Clinton's impeachment, the war in Iraq, or numerous other issues that they could have been more "fair and balanced"...

1. The pubbies are allowing them to merge and march towards
monopoly, and they love that idea. Never again will any story critical of one of their corporations be published. Never again will they have to ask the public's permission to use the public's airwaves when station license renewals come up.

2. Military Industrial Complex probably sums it up.

The corporate media is not a friend or an honest messenger to Americans.

Its not even about Democrats per se, although 'they' like to promote and ignite division between Americans and do it primarily through dividing and baiting our political parties and system.

The direct aim is at the truth at large and those who are telling it.

3. The K Street project has put a GOPer on the payroll of every corporation
Corporate America controls the news and the GOP controls Corporate America.

7. The K Street Project is a program headed by Grover Norquist
For the last five years he has kicked out all Democratic lobbiests and put lobbying under GOP control. He has forced every corporation to put GOPers on the board of every corporation and threatened that if they didn't do as he said, regulations would be used against that corporation.

Its why Ralph Reed was put on the payroll of Microsoft and why Dan Senior was put on the payroll of Google. It is also why PBS's controlling board is full of GOPers and no Dems.

Corporate America is a Republican Only organization and news is controlled by Corporate America.

4. I noticed that "if" also and to me it makes a huge difference.
Before I heard exactly what he said, I thought he made a direct comparison, but that is not the case. Perhaps only liberal people understand the English language and its subtle semantics well enough to understand what he really meant.
They are making a big deal out of what IMO is nothing. Very typical and distracting from the issues. Dems are constantly put on the defensive. Maybe they need to learn to spin the issues as well as the nitwit and his malicious troop.
I think the most he should respond to the criticism is to say...that's not what I said, nor what I meant. Listen to the speech in its entirety, and perhaps my meaning will be clearer.
