We need Al Gore in 2008! Thoughts and comments wanted!

Hey guys, with all this talk about Biden, Hillary, and all the rest running in 2008, I wanted to remind everyone who the real President is: Al Gore! He has stood up against this regime from day one and everything he said during the 2000 campaign has come into fruition. He really is the statesman of our time.

Please join us in our effort to convince Al to run in 2008. He has the most experience, the most knowledge, and is most respected out of any potential candidate. We need him.

I would also like to get your input on a Gore 2008 candidacy, would you support it?

6. In the past fifty years, there has been only one...

... nominated Democratic candidate for President who lost to a Republican who's run a second time for that office--Adlai Stevenson in 1952 and 1956, and that was probably an object lesson for the Democratic Party.

History is instructive here. The Democratic Party establishment, unlike the Republicans, doesn't see failed candidates as prime material for future runs at the same office.

Gore would make a reasonably good candidate, don't get me wrong. But machine politics being what they are in this country, don't get your expectations too high for it happening.

Just like Dean has found what is best for him. As disappointed as I was by Dean' loss, I now realize he is better for the party as the CHirman.

The same for Al GOre. I think he is better for the party and the nation - and his own happiness - to continue doing the things he is doing now and pursuing the things that interest him - such as a TV station.

21. I love respect and admire Al Gore - and he did fight in 2000

I think we/he fought a great fight, I personally believed that he won, and I think he threw in the towel when he had to. He's now had time outside of the process and I think he is new, improved, and sincere. I think Al Gore has re-discovered passion ( I say re-discovered, because I will always remember crying when he and Clinton stood outside the statehouse in Arkansa when they were first elected and I thought we had been delivered from the evil of Bush I. I think the ensuing years sucked it right out of him, and who can blame him.)

Al Gore is a powerful figure in his own right and now is his time to stand unshaded by the Clintons. People will always try to drag him down with the Clinton association - I think he should just say "I was vice-president then and I was in a support position but now I am running in a primary position as an independent candidate without the cloak of incumbency - I will only discuss what I think about the issues of today." I would definitely support Al Gore if he ran.
