If they were nominated, I would probably support them, but we'd all know they were doomed to defeat from the outset.

Hillary will always be a hopeless combination of too much conservatism on the issues and too much a flash point for reactionary hatemongers.

Biden will never be nationally popular again. There's simply nothing the man can possibly do to make a credible case for nominating him, since the entire country thinks of him(if they've heard of him)as an unprincipled hack.

18. OK it was the question...But the "Hillary v. Biden" phrase

made that confusing until you read the small print.

Nonetheless, it is certain that everyone who came back to the Democrats in 2004 from the Greens would go away again if Hillary or Biden were the nominees, since there would be no arguement you could make to convince people of conscience to support either one of them.

I don't think that they really have the same supporter base. I'd firmly place Biden as a Joe Lieberman type, on the center/center-right wing of the party, while I consider Hillary to be much more in line with the views of most Democrats.

I guess, I'd pick Hillary over Biden. I suppose, I'd vote for either one if they were the nominee. Would NOT be a happy camper. But I don't believe in supporting a third party for prez.

Be I gotta tell ya, if the Repub was someone I could stomach, like Hagel, I'd find myself at least giving that guy a look. Not that I'd necessarily vote for him. I'd have to see evidence that that person was bringing his party from the brink. I'd have to see 2006 as a year when the Repubs pulled themselves from the social conservative brink. That would determine if I'd even give a Repub the barest look.

But Biden esp. would drive me to do just that, I think, even more than Hillary.

out one thing I had forgotten: I swear to God, in '08, I will make good on my promise, as I did on the one I made after '00, to support, campaign on behalf of, give money to and vote for whatever is next to Democrat on my ballot. UNLESS, perhaps, we wind up with a situation in which the "Democrat" nominated by our party...isn't. Like, if it's Lieberman or something. For the official record, I don't think Biden and/or HIllary are quite as bad as Joe...yet. But it's still a (relatively) long way until July/August of 2008. They've both got some credibility left to slaughter. If we wind up with a "Democrat" in the Lieberman sense? Then--yeah, I'll be seriously considering what the G.O.P. has to offer.
