The Barnes Review

The Barnes Review is an anti-Semitic web site whose primary propaganda goal is disparagement of Jews and denial that the Nazi Holocaust ever occurred. The home page of the Barnes Review has included articles with titles such as "The Myth of the Six Million" and "Jewish History, Jewish Religion," which states, "When the Roman historian Tacitus pointed out 19 centuries ago that the Jews are unique among the races of man in their intense hatred and contempt for all races but their own, he was only repeating what many other scholars had discovered before him."

The Barnes Review is named after Harry Elmer Barnes, once a well-known and respected World War I historian and revisionist whose obsession with conspiracy theories led him to virulent anti-Jewish bigotry and support for Nazi policies during World War II and to a later belief that the Holocaust was a hoax. It was founded by Willis Carto, who also founded the extreme right-wing Liberty Lobby and the Institute for Historical Review (IHR), another organization engaged in Holocaust denial. Carto founded the Barnes Review after he was forced out of the IHR in 1993 in an apparent dispute over funding and ideology.

Shortly after the commencement of the U.S.-led war in Iraq, the Barnes Review was associated with an attempt to exploit anti-war sentiment by circulating fake whistleblower memos on media bias in the Iraq war.

The Barnes Review is notable for its development of a new bit of PR doublespeak: "junk history," similar to "junk science".

5. Last night, someone posted a blog entry from Jim Lampley from...

...the Huffington Blog. It was posted after Mid-night and with in 5 minutes a huge fight was raging in GD: Politics. Knowing this crap source from the Gannon time period, I spent at least 2 hours posting this to those in the fights.

This to TBR is "Mission Accomplished." The Post was finally was deleted after about 3 hours of this.

Then, Just before I was going to post This, It popped up again in GD. This time I did do an alert on this. I haven't checked to see if it's gone yet.

I'm not recommending it, but if You want to know more, check it out at the Huffington blog. Make sure you look at the comments after 1:00am. I'm sure you'll find mine, typos and all.

11. Actually, this info on TBR & it's affiliations IS useful - I had looked via

links (here on DU) at 'The Voice of the White House' & never ventured past that page. So I was very unaware of the connections that TBR had w/those you mentioned. I was appalled when I DID finally hear @ them - if no one talks @ them, people take longer to find out. And in the process, get slime on them!

..."The Voice of the White House," the info about "Jeff Gannon" just seemed too perfect.

It felt like information that was written to lead us in a certain direction and to muddy the waters.

It took the combined brain power at DU, but the connection was unmistakable.

Frankly, it's stunning to me how some here do NOT immediately see the Danger of legitimizing this type of crap, by giving a Neo-Nazi/Holocaust Denier "news" site even the benefit of a doubt, that it could be true or noble.:crazy:

Unfortunately as there was no more reliable source for these minutes... we Scoop.co.nz.. felt compelled to ignore them for the very reasons cited by the original poster.

I get into arguments with people over this site, and Rense (with many people claiming that Rense isn't a supporter of holocaust deniers.)

TBR is probably one of the worst, though, strictly in terms of how many times it's cited here.

to discredit us. The freeps on Conyers blog used it to call us anti-semitic. They also use it as a sway/recruitment tool for lefties to get ito that racist shite of theirs!

It's important that people know the history of that site. I frequently see people post links to the "Voice of the White House", thinking it's actual insider info ("Wow, these people have PROOFS!!!" etc). It's probably nothing more than one guy's concoctions.

20. Voice of WH seems to be written by different people and I ran across

a site doing a "Google" where there is another site one can go to for VWH prognostications. That was revealing.

What they have up now is written in a totally different manner than the other VWH stuff.

I think it's an interesting read...even, given the ties to Holocaust Denials.
