Democrats will win the Whitehouse in 2008.
I'm not overconfident and I'm certainly not saying we need to relax. On the contrary, we've gotten this far because of the huge bonfire we've lit under ourselves to get the truth out about the Bushies.

But, I heard Cheney commenting the other day that while he wouldn't be running for President, whoever does run as a Republican will have to be someone who will carry on what Bush has started.

Can you think of a better sound bite for Democrats to use in the campaign?

1. My dad is convinced
They won't run Guiliani or McCain; they'll run Frist or Santorum. Perhaps by 2008 the Connservative Fundamentalist base will be all they have to run on.

27. and for once gays and women won't be the scapegoats
The fundies will run their platform on social issues, no doubt about it, and the country will reject it. Look at Illinois--Obama vs. Keyes.

33. I think Hagel could also be running
Someone posted his seat isn't up until 2008 and he recently was vocal about Iraq. I have read that he was against Iraq in 2003 though. And he's apart of Bilderberg as well so that will give him more of a chance. I think Frist is done with personally. So we have McCain, Santorum and maybe Hagel. Any governor's?

...what if the Dem candidate is so far ahead that the vote theft would be totally obvious?

15. Good question. Depends on who's doing the polling. And the exit
polls. Last I heard the repubs wanted the exit polls stopped because it caused too much discussion and was always challenging the repub candidate. Seems the exit polls are never wrong about Democrats.

There was a lot of discussion this last election about the polls being fixed in favor of the repubs.

20. Huh?
I thought that they 'explained' the polls as being biased toward the Democrats...that the pollsters 'sought out' Kerry voters. I had not seen anything that the Republicans were favored...wait, are you talking about the polls before the Nov 2nd?

32. Yes, Zogby etc. Democrats are more than 50% of the population,
but the pollsters interview more republicans. Even with that, the repub candidate will be down 5%, but after the machine elections, they are 5% ahead. And this only happens to repub candidates. This is statistically impossible.

22. It was "obvious" in Ohio. So confident was the Kerry campaign on election
night, that we didn't even have to call the west coast after the Ohio polls closed. At the hotel party on Nov 2, at 1:30 am when I was leaving with a sick feeling in my heart, the Kerry campaign staffers were still saying, "don't worry our "boiler room" says we won and won big.

They knew and yet conceded so quickly. Don't count on fair elections!

3. It will be the flag covered hero, America's Mayor.
Because 9-11 will continue to scare people who want bombs dropped to feel safe. It matters not where they are dropped, as long as they are.

13. No way... It won't be Rudy because...
If he never runs, his icon status stays intact for the rest of his life.

If he DOES run.. the man has so many skeletans in his closet, it's a dream come true for Democrats! :bounce:

Remember! September 11th made that man.

Remember what a joke he was before that????

He won't want to risk losing his hero image by reopening the "Rudy before 911"

No way he'll run..

8. Or Ohio, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, or Montana
Of course a Southern state would be desirable for the Dems, I think their chances are better in other parts of the country. I don't think the South is lost for good, but it is going to require an economic populist candidate who can really raise working class issues. Unfortunately with the influence of the DLC economic populism is thrown out in favor of moving the candidates further to the right. When the Democrats lose their spine they lose elections.

North Carolina has gotten DNC money and staff in it's state since the campaign started. Let's hope that they are making use of their resources wisely.

9. We need a voting paper trail.
This has to become a very high priority issue as soon as we can make it one. If nothing else, we force the neocon leaders to refuse to allow a vote for legislation requiring paper-receipt voting machines.

11. Paper ballots, not paper trail
They can still do anything with your vote once they have it in their machine; a receipt can't tell you how it was counted behind the scenes.

I know there are pitfalls to every method, but hand-counted paper ballots is the one of the most secure methods of voting.

the House in 2006. Get busy NOW!
And more seats in the Senate. Hopefully Bingamen will win in NM. Pete Dominici is safe until 2008 unfortunately.

21. We won the whitehouse in 2000 and 2004, if proprietary source code
and machines are to be used what makes you think we will win in 2008? This is why the pugs are not as concerned as one would think they should be.

24. I heard a psychic predict the US political climate a few years ago ...
This was back in 2002, and I certainly hope it's true. I discounted it at the time because I was certain that voters would turn Bush and Cheney out in 2004. The prediction was this:

George W. Bush would serve two terms in office. After that, the Republicans wouldn't win the White House again for over 50 years.

With the DSM revelations -- and talk that the government is covering up the deaths of thousands of American soldiers in Iraq -- and with more and more people questioning the official September 11th scenarios -- this prediction may actually make some sense.

30. Dare we Hope?
I read a prediction also...just recently...that said, Jeb is going to run in "08" and WIN....but 2 years into his disastrous presidency, the american military, would step in and remove him forcibly from office...and at that time, ask the Dems/Rep's to come up with a moderate and equally balanced new gov't to take over...
Personally, I like your prediction much better..

31. If they rig/win '06.. W will run again... think no way.. think again..
the changes to the "laws" needed to allow a 3rd term has already been written! These people think big, and they plan to take the remaining seats in Congress need to have a super majority and thus carte-blanche(whatever they want)! This is why we must win the house and IMPEACH him in '07. The backlash will give us control of all 3 branchs in '08! So its either dictatorship or "democracy"!

Then we can get to work rooting out Dems that dont support progressive reality based programs!

I believe the next few years will be unprecedented! So hang on.. its going to be a bumpy ride!
