Preparing for the next 9/11
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 02:21 AM by Memekiller
There is one thing I know for absolute certain - the next time the terrorists pull off an attack on the US, the Republicans will start a relentless, non-stop assault on liberals for lacking the will to fight the War on Terror. They will say it is our criticism, not Bush's incompetence, that has left us unsafe.

Will Democrats be ready? What will our response be? I fear if something major happens, Democrats will retreat out of fear of inciting anger, and again allow themselves to get steamrolled. If they allow the Republican assualt to happen, I truly believe that would be the end of this country as we know it. It would be a complete police state dropping nukes throughout the Middle East.

So how should we react when another attack occurs? Keep in mind, this could be something as major as a nuclear blast.

1. Yeah... about 3k.
(I'm guessing)

Enough to kill a few thousand, but not cripple the economy.

I say start now by explaining to friends and family that this administration NEEDS a new catastrophe to reinstate the draft and regain support for the next series of invasions.

Tell them you hope you are wrong, but we will not be able to secure control of the world oil market in time if we don't invade.

And with the way things are right now, Americans will not support another invasion without some serious 'convincing'.

So tell everyone you know- the best thing that could happen is you are wrong either because the word is so widespread the administration woudn't dare, or you are just plain wrong... either way, it's a good thing. The worst thing that could happen is you are right, but then everyone starts taking you MUCH more seriously.

3. We have been saying the right thing for some time now...
And it is as simple as saying the truth. Iraq was a diversion from Osama, Iraq did not make us safer, Iraq diverted funds that could have been better spent, in the short term, on real Homeland security, in the long term, on our energy independence. I could go on, but you get the point. The Dems need to step this talk up, however, I get the feeling they want to handle it with kid gloves. Well it is time to take the gloves off.
This week saw Mr. Freedom Fries himself, speak out against a lack of a clear exit plan, and yes there were some Dems there, but he is the big news of that story. Are we going to let the rethugs take the mantle of being the anti-war party? If you think this is impossible, that Americans are too smart to fall for it, just think how close the election was, even with the cheating. It should have never been that close, with how clear an idiot that bush is.

We need to harp, non-stop, on all the failures of this war, and how it made things much worse. If a attack comes then, the blame will fall right where it belongs, on the bush administration.

5. Not discounting it
But seriously I dont think US can invade another country. The 911 still has not been answered. The whole Iraq thing stink like hell and the UN cannot afford not to act this time. US veto or not it will make very clear defination the next time round.

Most people around the world think 911 is an inside job. Me included.

6. "...no terrorist attack since 9/11..."
channel surfing last night, I caught Pelosi in a C-Span re-broadcast about the patriot act debate... unfortunately my "surfing skills" were a bit off and I just caught the tail end of her speech.

next up was Feeny from Florida who began urging renewal/expanding the patriot act by pointing out how successful it was -- ""...no terrorist attack since 9/11..." - i.e. so the patriot act must be working...

:eyes: he's either been drinking more than his daily recommended dose of kook-aid or he's really stupid... (a bit of both I think)

true there hasn't been a terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11, but that doesn't mean it won't happen, nor does it mean the patriot act has stopped any such attack in the mean time.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls.html
smirk-boy's numbers are dropping... Average polling: Approval 45.5% disapproval - 48%

Congress's numbers are even lower (see link above). although polls for approval/disapproval of Congress lump Dems and Repugs all together, we all know that the repugs are running the show.

Keep in mind - the only thing smirk-boy and the repugs have going for them is FEAR. The only times repugs and smirk-boy had high approval numbers is when the American People feared another terrorist attack. IMHO - given the approval/disapproval numbers and next year are the mid-term elections -- Smirk-boy Inc. will be issuing terra-lerts and/or rattling sabers even louder at Iran/Syria.

There's a high probability of a terra-lert over the 4th of July holiday - we won't have the general national color alert, but it will be targeted towards a few large cities - most likely N.Y., Boston, Philadelphia, and L.A. When smirk-boy returns from his august vacation we'll see the build-up, fact distortions, and lies as to why we have to invade Iran/Syria. If the current climate remains about the same - Iran/Syria will be invaded by spring 2006.....just in time to use it as a 'stump speech' for mid-term election campaigns...

7. We don't wait for it to happen. We predict it and start sharing our
foresight now about how this administration needs another Pearl Harbor based on how badly the invasion is going, Osama is still on the lam, and *'s bad numbers. That way if it does happen, we don't need a defensive attitude, but rather a sagely "We told you but you wouldn't listen."
