Screw 2008, we need to focus on 2006
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 08:30 AM by auburngrad82
We can win back control of the Congress and the Senate if we start focusing on next year. We have many things going for us- the War in Iraq is turning into a nightmare, the Downing Street Memos, the economy hasn't improved, the deficit isn't going down, Tom DeLay is still in office, Bill Frist has made some serious mistakes related to Schiavo and the "nuclear option" and millions of people are out of work or without health insurance.

Let's focus on next year and worry about 2008 in November 2006.

1. Screw 2006
we need to deal with the Diebold, EE&S election machine fraud issues NOW!

We don't have a chance in hell without that.

3. They need to be dealt with, yes, but we need to start focusing on
getting a coherent message and getting all of the progressive groups to form a coalition so that we have an organization. If we act like pussies then the GOP will just kick our asses like they have for the last 10 years.

Democrats control more state governments than repugs do. We can work on getting the voting situation straightened out. But it does no good if we don't get the message out and make people angry enough to vote. It's an off-year election and we need great turnout. The best voting machines in the world don't work if you don't get the people to use them.

2. Boy, that's the truth.
We can bottle Chimpy up by taking back one of the houses of congress. We can cut him off at the knees by taking both, although taking the house back would be a tough nut to crack. But we can so SOMETHING by getting off our asses NOW and volunteering to the party and to established campaigns.

2008 is a long way off and speculating about it is a wank, a wedge and a distraction. We have to focus with laser-like accuracy on 2006 and bring the enthusiasm and numbers we had in 2004, if not more.

4. Absolutely right. Important Senate races. In PA we need to replace
Rick Santorum with an anti-choice, anti-embryonic stem cell research Democrat. :wtf:

6. The House is the issue, and it's VERY winnable
All the idiotic focus on the next presidential race or the senate is silly. There are so many vulnerable Republicans in the House that to not attack them as moochers, thieves, warmongers, maniacs and greedheads would be foolish. The sheer ugliness of the Republicans toward anyone who's not a rich American is obvious. Let 'er rip.
