Rice: Everyone Else Failed
You may think that the Bush administration’s strategy is the Middle East – including the war in Iraq – isn’t going so well. This morning Condoleezza Rice offered a different perspective. Not only is the administration’s policy successful, it is the only administration that has been successful for the last six decades:

For 60 years, my country, the United States, pursued stability at the expense of democracy in this region here in the Middle East, and we achieved neither. Now, we are taking a different course.

Among other things, her comments were a slap in the face to the Reagan and Bush I administrations, Rice’s former employers.

2. A slap in the face to Reagan and Bush
But somehow I get the distinct feeling that any reporting on St. Condi's remarks about the last 60 years of so-called failure will focus on the 12 years of the Carter and Clinton administrations and totally elide Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Bush.

Anybody wanna bet? I got a shiny nickel here that's just burning a hole in my pocket.

3. Not really a surprise, since she and Reality got a divorce many
years ago! Staying in GW's good graces requires her to drink the Kool-Aid and stay inside the bubble at all costs.

6. Uh, I think it was Ray McGovern who said...
... that Kindasleezza's reputation for veracity was "undistinguished." No more need to be said--she's part of the machine, and is determined to put a smiley face on a fuck-up.

The woman is just as deluded as her bosses. Maybe more so because she adores them.

7. Just because you say it Condi doesn't make it so -
She is SO good at lying with conviction; the perfect salesman for a horribly defective product.

12. I don't think she's a good liar at all.
She always sounds whimpering and uncertain to me. Part of the Bushco strategy of elevating incompetent yes women and men to be mouthpieces for the real forces of evil like Rove, Cheney.

8. I think Todd Rundgren said it best:
At the edge of the world
The sun pouring down
We must be heading home
I completely agree
I’ve just been waiting for the right words to come along

Everybody else is wrong
Doesn’t everyone concur, oh no
Thank you for the vote of confidence
I feel so much surer now that
Everybody else is wrong

In the prime of one’s life
One must be aware
It’s such a weary job
But I’ve made up my mind
I’ve just been waiting for the right choice to come along

Please don’t turn out the light
My pen is on fire
The masterpiece revealed
Put your wallets in hand
If you’ve been waiting for the answer to come along

9. Is she trying to say there is stability in the middle east?

"For 60 years, my country, the United States, pursued stability at the expense of democracy in this region here in the Middle East, and we achieved neither. Now, we are taking a different course."

What rock is she living under?? Daily bombings, people dying, soldiers being maimed and killed...this is stability?

13. But everyone else did not invade a country and kill tens of thousands
of people, including women and children. So, I guess Condi is saying, if we fail, we are just like everyone else, but we tried??
