burn the flag!
the rebel flag, that is. hit garage sales, flea markets, pawn shops, and anywhere else this symbol of oppression, racism and bigotry can be found. buy them and do a slow barbeque of them at rallies, marches and gatherings for everyone to see. additionally, print out 8.5" X 11" images of the rebel flag on your printer, tape a book of matches to each one (preferably the matchbook with the picture of lincoln's face on it) and hand them out to people at rallies and marches and encourage them to burn them for the crowd to enjoy as well. best of all, watch freeper heads explode right before your very eyes!

if this turns into a big craze, wouldn't it be great to see the filthy, redneck, republican legislators try to amend the constitution to ban burning the stars and bars?

1. It would just be seen as "south bashing"
I agree that many people, especially in the south, use the confederate flag as a symbol of racism. I'll even go so far as to say that a majority of them who fly the confederate flag are doing it out of racism.

But I think that there are some people who genuinely fly it because great great grand daddy was a brave soldier who served his "country" and that it's not ment as a symbol of hate or racism.

That's just my 2 cents

3. lol that is too funny. . .
I have to admit, I'm so frustrated that we are focusing on flag burning while our country is in an economic spiral, war without end, and fight for morals while we are lied to by the top of the political heap, that while driving by an RV store with their huge, huge US flag, I fantasized about firing a burning arrow at it from across the freeway. . .not because I desire to burn flags, but because the flag right now is symbolizing a lack of focus and concern by our government.

You know they say once you have a plan, you are dangerous!

4. That is actually a great way to frame this debate!
I really think this is a great idea, and will piss off the people you're probably protesting against in the first place. Bonus: You're not breaking any laws.

Another option to challenge the amendment is to use old flags for burning purposes, and dispose of them properly as outlined in the US Flag Code.

"When a flag is so worn it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner. "

http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html

In other words, burn it, but do it in a "dignified manner" and you can still get your message across.

5. This is a great idea, tie it into this amendment
Put the language in there adding the southern cross as protected along with old glory- after all we must protect all of our "symbols of heritage".
