Will christians keep killen alive?
He is a leader of the KKK and a former christian conservative minister. Surely they "value" his life since he has done so much for the christian movement in this country. I strongly urge the Mississippi Christian community to contact the warden and make plans to artificially keep killen alive to serve out his sentence. You know how christians are about valuing life (don't check out the christian supported large body count in Iraq, that doesn't count.)

Poor ole killen, the rest of his time on earth in Parchman and then Jesus will get ahold of his sorry ass.

4. Right after they say, "Lord, Lord, have we not slaughtered many heathen...
in thy name?"

But it's really Domestic Economic Policy specifically the de-funding of subsistence programs that is going to send them straight to the Lake of Fire.

See Matthew 25:31-46 for a description of how God will judge The Nations based on Economic Policy. Someone needs to erect a giant stone monument of this Scripture passage in front of the HEW HQ and small plaques at every assistance office in the country.

3. He was killing a tree that fought back.
Fell on top of him, broke both legs.

A tree after my own heart.

5. What is the point of this thread?
Are you suggesting that Christians in general have supported Killen and the hideous crimes he committed?

I graduated from a church-affiliated college in Mississippi. I knew and came to admire many fine Christian men and women -- men and women who fought and suffered greatly trying to bring change to Mississippi.

To make a blanket indictment of Christians in Mississippi denigrates the sacrifices that all those people have made.

7. So many Christians get defensive
when the evils and the hate of those who do their bidding in the name of Jesus Christ are shown the light of day. If you oppose their action, then make every effort to correct them. Radical Christian Zealots are the number one fucking threat to our country. If you and others like you value your country and your constitution, you won't waste your time with this constitution loving veteran, you'll do what you can to save them. I choose not to sit on my thumbs afraid I might offend someone because I call a monstrous ignorant hater exactly what he is.

10. You need to get a grip
You can hate Edgar Killen all you like. I think he is a monster as well and his conviction is long overdue.

But I resent the implication that Christians in Mississippi as a class have supported this man.

You clearly don't know anything about the progressive Christian community in Mississippi, so don't wag you finger and suggest that nobody has done anything to try to rein in the racists and the hatemongers.

9. Who is it in that mythology that decides who ascends and who
descends?

I thought that everyone was supposed to face Jesus for judgement. There was no Go directly to Hell, do not pass Jesus, do not collect $200.

Of course, the bible never really says, one way or the other, does it. That's what makes it such a certainty.

8. Ya know
there are Christians on our side as well. Some of them are from Mississippi. I'm quite certain they don't appreciate being painted with that broad brush of yours.

They don't own God. I won't stand for let them, or us, talking as if they do.
