Today, in Silver Spring, Bush blames Democrats for troubles facing SS plan
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=3&u=/nm/20050623/pl_nm/retirement_dc

SILVER SPRING, Md. (Reuters) -
President Bush on Thursday praised the fact Republicans had put forward proposals to restructure the U.S. retirement program and blamed Democrats for the troubles facing his Social Security plan.

While he lauded their efforts, Bush did not address specifics of the starkly different proposals offered by the U.S. House of Representatives Republican leadership and Republican Sen. Robert Bennett of Utah. Both also differ from what Bush has proposed.

"I was pleased to see some Republican members of the House and the Senate have started laying out ideas. I've been laying out ideas. I think it's time for the leadership in the Democrat party to start laying out ideas," Bush said at a high school in the Washington suburb of Silver Spring, Maryland.

"See, the American people expect those of us who come to Washington, D.C., to negotiate in good faith on behalf of the people. If there's a problem, people ought to say, 'here's what I'm for,' not what they're against."

3. We are the friggin' minority party
Somebody should tell * it's because his "plan" is a rip-off, it sucks, and people are wise to that. If he had the votes to pass it, it would pass. And there's nothing the Dems could do about it, except filibuster, which hasn't happened.

It's an "idea: that FDR came up with and that has worked jsut fine for some 70 years.

What a moran that man is. He just refuses to give up his attempts to absolutely ruin America.

9. this is news? everything according to bush is dems fault
even though his party controls congress - it could never be that he proposed really bad policy and even his congressional sycophants aren't willing to go over the cliff for him.... could it?

But seriously - why is this picked up as a newswire story? There is no news in it. I could see local or regional press (as in the president was in town - and while here said...) but a news wire item?

Sheez.

12. Yeah, "Talking Points Memo" has
a great soundbite on this warring on Dems..

"The president and his partner are more concerned with going to war with half the country than they are with war against the country's enemies abroad. Until the president thinks differently on that key point there's simply no point in dealing with him on anything."

13. "no point in dealing with him on anything"...
...that just about sums it up.

My favorite part of this is McClellan whining on a daily basis about how the Dems keep "moving the goal post," and Frist doing the same thing too..."they won't COMPROMISE, Mommy!"

There IS no compromise for Bush. Because he's spent his whole life as a spoiled, substance-abusing Oedipal frat boy, and because people keep GIVING HIM WHAT HE WANTS, he expects it. When he doesn't get it, he jumps up and down and pulls the "alpha male" crap.

:toast:
