Rove insulted US - this is war!
If he wants this country divided, he's got it.
His comments made me hate the republicans even more, and I never would have thought that was possible.

If he apologizes - fuck him! They are still attacking Durbin after his apology.

How dare him insult Democrats, when he has democrats blood all over his hands.

I say we start a massive email campaign to all of the dem senators saying how insulted we are, and to start a "shock and awe" campaign on the republicans.... and it starts with non-stop discussion of the DSM, that has suddenly disappeared.

Kerry was awesome on the floor today, but that was just the first bullet.

I am pissed - ARE YOU????

28. Thank you for your service
I am in NY also ~ Karl Rove just said that you are terrorist appeaser, he also accused my nephew, airforce veteran, of wanting to appease terrorists. He insulted and trashed the memory of all those Democrats who served and even died for their country.

This is war!! I've listened to this 'liberals are traitors' for years now, with virtually NO response from Demcorats. I'm sick and tired of it and the only reason it's still going on is because Democrats have refused to take them on.

Let's finish it once and for all. Most Americans are not on their side, they've just been screaming longer and louder.

Karl Rove speaks for the president. Bush needs to apologize and he and he needs to fire Karl Rove. His father, Bush Sr. fired him back in the early nineties. Nothing else will do. And then let the prosecutors on the Valerie Plame case start prosecuting.

Bush promised quick action on the traitor who outed an undercover agent. That was TWO WHOLE YEARS AGO!

Oh, and Karl, 'where is Osama Bin Laden'?

42. If this is war...
...then you need to know your enemy.

From James Kroeger's http://taxwisdom.org/republican_nemesis.htm">The Republican Nemesis:

"Republican strategists know they would rarely win if election results were always determined by a logical discussion of The Issues and nothing more (they know that most voters would benefit more from Democratic economic policies than from Republican policies). They know they must win the IMAGE CAMPAIGN to have any chance of winning. That is why they are committed, now and forever, to negative campaigning. Republicans have never forgotten a key stratagem they perfected during the Reagan Era: DEMONIZING YOUR OPPONENTS WORKS."

"The most important reason why negative campaigning has worked so well for the Republicans is because their negative attacks on the Democrats reate a positive impression of Republican candidates, who appear---in contrast---to be individuals who do not possess the defects that they have accused others of having. They define themselves by defining their Democratic opponents . On a visceral level, what the Republicans actually “stand for” in the minds of Swing Voters on election day is that they are not Democrats---those defective people who seem to have been born to ruin everything..."

http://taxwisdom.org/republican_nemesis.htm">The Republican Nemesis really is must-reading for any Democrat. We can take on Rove and the Republicans, but we're going to have to work together to bring them down.

Don't forget LTTEs. Those help ,too.

My LTTE to the SF Chron:

Dear Editor,

Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war with Iraq, an innocent country which had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments on Saudi Arabians and the Bin Laden family but the Republicans said "No".

Where's Osama bin Laden, Rove? Why isn't he in custody?

....do you have a video link. Hillary Clinton nailed Donald Rumsfeld in the Senate Armed Forces Committee hearing today about this and Rumsfeld denied knowing anything about it and also said he did not say it, when asked by Hillary if he knew who said it. Then Rumsfeld gave a sneer and said nothing else. It is war! I fully agree, the democrats must take off the gloves and do major battle with these thugs who are controlling the political agenda and destroying the constitutional democracy of the United States.

It would be optimum if a number of us were to spend our time taking them to appropriate task for the lies and misconduct, while others specifically take on DSM etc.

They're organized like this, why not our response? Divide and conquer can be conquered.

35. Wes Clark blogs on this
Democrats everywhere are bemoaning the preposterous and inflammatory remarks Karl Rove is accused of saying in response to the Senator Durbin's remarks on Guantanamo Bay:

"Has there ever been a more revealing moment this year? Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals...Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." --Karl Rove

I am so saddened by this untrue, unfair, unwise statement made by President Bush's closest advisor. I hope you will express your sadness directly to the highest authority.

Wes Clark

Recent remarks by Karl Rove, Bush’s closet political adviser and Deputy Chief of staff, insinuate that liberals put American troops in harms way. Fixing the facts around a policy, and manipulating the American public to support a war based on lies, puts our brave young men and women in harms way!

49. Analyze this Mr. Rove
Mr. Bush Jr.'s poll numbers were in the toilet 9/10/01 ( the same as they are now), then came 9/11/01. Conclusion, as a group the Bush Jr. Administration are really not that good. MIHOP or LIHOP or just plain screwed up, 9/11/01 is a BS wave you can only ride so far.

Lets just say for a moment that the World Trade Center was attack by people who were pissed at the United States of America. This attack did not happen over night. It happened with a lot of planning and a lot of revenge in the hearts of these people. Maybe, ever since the walk softly and carry a big stick policy came out and pointed us to take our rightful place in the world we have been doing just that, taking our place in the world. That carries a lot of responsibility and factually the Bush Jr. Administration blew it badly. Just ask the 3000+ dead from 9/11/01 what the Bush Jr. Administration did for them, be sure to listen to their collective response.

Personally, I am not a Democrat but an Independent and Mr. Rove you have added a insult to you just being present in a public forum. So upon that your resignation from your position in the Bush Jr. Administration and from public life would suit me just fine at this time.

P.S. Mr. Rove you really fucked up on the private accounts in Social Security proposition did you not? Sending Mr. Bush Jr. out on the road on a failed exposition. Mr. Bush Jr. has not worked an honest day in his life, now he had to go around the country attempting to change the publics opinion. Is Mr. Bush Jr. a little cranky these days? Trying to make up for it? Yeah, it is a bitch when one is looking up to see bottom.

ask why everything Republicans say & do is aimed chiefly to get Americans to hate each other, & to further divide Democrats. It is a war on many fronts, here in America & in the UK it's Information Warfare, & they're always trying to manipulate people's emotions. This was another example of the kind of stunts that are Karl Rove's specialty.

60. He was just on Scarborough, and i actually watched
He said that Move On had a petition against the war, replayed Durbin's remarks, the the prisoners in Gitmo are treated well (they showed footage of prisoners playing soccer!) and that we never got over 2000, and we're still not over 2004. Was down talking Dean. We are angry, and our anger is not good for the war on terror. Well Mr Rove, you are trying to make us angry!
Maybe we should just laugh this off! Maybe we should frame this with something other than anger, since anger is what he wants! Maybe we should laugh and say how out of touch he is instead.

61. yeah, I noticed
that whenever any Progressive/Liberal gets understandably angry the Neocons jump up & down & point it out as if getting angry is a bad thing. Angry & weak, & everything bad, blah, blah, blah....

52. Write...just write PLEASE
Ask everyone you know to write.

And then call...Please call.

They have completely fucked up. They have wrecked the Army. We are losing a battalon a month...300 Americans either dead or wounded a month. 5 billion dollars a month money we are borrowing away from our grandchildren's future. Gone.

Now they are trying to place the blame for their failure on Durbin.

They are vicious sick people.

Write

Alert your e-lists

And put aside the fucking 2004 primaries.

55. Insults or not, Rove IS on the defensive, folks. He's not just speaking
...he's trying to "change the flow" of Truth emerging about DSM, and is doing so by diverting 'the flow' to 9/11. 9/11...the old "fall'back" point for the Repugs when they need a boost in the Polls. When they're on the Defensive...we've got them 'on the run.' Instead of being annoyed, we should praise ourselves for the progress.

69. I agree, it's their phony little ploy to get us on the defensive!
After all, you know Bush won't fire him.

57. Don't take the bait. Rove isn't the story. Bad policy is.
A minute spent writing letters about Rove is a minute not spent writing letters about napalm, fixing intelligence, Bolton, and Iraq.

Abu Ghraib photos are due any day by the way. Rove isn't the story.

59. "This is war"?
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 01:45 AM by IndianaGreen
"Rove insulted US - this is war!"

The rightwing has been waging war on us from the time Clinton first took office as President. Rightwing luminaries such as Pat Buchanan have spoken often about the "cultural war" between the GAWD-ly people and us heathens.

It is about time that those that advocated moderation when dealing with Bush have seen their reasoning totally discredited by the ruthless tactics of the rightwing. Lock and load!

62. Rove's a diversion from the DSM...They want us talking about his ass
It takes attention off deaths in Iraq and DSM. It puts us on the defensive explaining how we're all patriots and Americans.

Of course we are. Rove wants us outraged and defending our actions. We don't need to defend them. We need to keep hammering DSM, and ask why casey said Fallujah was safe when those women lost their lives there today.

67. and that's what's so great about Kerry's letter
The timing! It's bringing it back. Instead of talking about Rove...we're talking about the dsm again.

64. Rove's statement is nothing more than
a ploy to piss off democrats and DISTRACT us from DSM, the war, the rotten ecomomy, etc. That bald headed boob's new game plan is to get on the offensive. Besides, Bush would never fire him and he sure as hell wont apoligize. He has already changed his story by saying he meant move-on.org and not the congress. Kerry's letter will go straight into the garbage. I can already hear them laughing at the white house......

65. I think you should start a massive campaign,
directly to Rove, and shut him up!! Really, cuz that's probably the most you can hope for. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like many senators were interested in Kerry's letter. Anyway, Rove just did it as a distraction.
