Words from an old spiritual :
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 08:38 PM by kentuck
When it looked like the sun wouldn't shine anymore - God put a rainbow in the sky...

I have a hunch that a rainbow is somewhere over London about now and it will reach all the way to Washington. The Repubs are acting like wild animals in a zoo, very unpredictable and frightened, just before an earthquake hits. I think the earthquake is about to hit...

There is a lot of speculation on DU and elsewhere as to why the Repubs are in such a vicious attack mode? They never send out Cheney or Rove unless there is an emergency or they sense there is an emergency? And now they have both of them out?? Is it the simple downturn in the polls? Is it the latest UN report about torture at Quantanamo? Is it simply that the war is going so bad? Is it the Downing Street memo? Or is it something that has not yet been reported?? Whatever it is, the Republicans are running scared...

1. Torture pictures

are coming out next week I think. I think it is all of the above and they sense that everything they have done is coming out slowly but surely. This is a most dangerous time but it is also a time to keep our heads to the grindstone. Make the public cringe and shake when the names Bush/Cheney come up.

Edit Heads to the grindstone? Is that the correct way to say that? Somehow it doesn't sound right but you get what I mean.

2. Being fond of old "Spirituals"
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 09:06 PM by KoKo01
that most DU'ers would know the words to as they are from the "past" I just wanted to say that the words of many of them ring in my head today.

Having grown up with them...and as a child loving them...from those times when one heard alot of "diverse" music.

"Old Man River" while not fitting the definition...being more a "pop" tune for one generation is one I keep thinking of lately. But there are some more earthy and plaintive ones that maybe keep some of us going.

Music for the "opressed" sort of cuts across the generations..maybe. It depends on what time and what color of skin you have as to what strikes you enough to go back and think about it...and what it meant to so many and some of us today ...who have a shorter time frame..thinking it's John Lennon and the 60's when it really goes way back in time.
