Keep it together.
Dick Durbin is not Joe Biden. He's not Joe Lieberman. He's not even Bill Clinton. He's pro-labor, pro-choice, and many other good things.

He made a big mistake that hurt the party. But he's still a good Democrat. Criticize him, yes, but don't condemn him. That would be dumb and self-defeating.

Keep it together.

2. What about the "L" word? Stolen elections? The lies?
I won't criticize Durbin, I'll defend him. There isn't a word evil enough to describe a republican.

3. Oh, I agree 100%. On Key issues, he's been with us...
99.9% of the time. Just look at how often Lieberman and Biden(self-serving greedy ding dong) defect to the dark side in the name of "bi-partisanship".

Simply put: Dick Durbin > Joe Lieberman/Joe Biden

4. You're right !
Yesterday I was seriously pissed at Durbin, but you have that right. Once the right wing noise machine ramps up, it can be deafening. Also, it didn't help when Daley punked him out.

Yes, he votes for his state. I just hope he is a little more cautious. Dean can take the heat like few people can.

Go Howard! And yes, upon reflection, Durbin's alright and an asset to his state of Illinois.

5. I would never ...
... condemn anyone for a mistake, especially one made under serious duress. So I agree.

I save my condemnation for those whose actions betray a pattern of pernicious, timid, or self-serving nature over a period of time.

Durbin does not fit that description at the present time, he is a man who made what I think is a mistake, under a huge amount of pressure.

His mistake may have been costly, that is not the point. The point is why and how did he make the mistake. Did he make it knowing its impact. Did he make it in a calculating way.

I say he did not. Give the man a break.

6. Durbin Has Always Been A Good Democrat....
the comments he made are some that I think we ALL have felt. We're just plain pissed at what has been going on. We're just sick of the crap that has been shoved around. The lies & deception are getting to be a normal pattern for the Repukes. It's second nature and they feel they can say/do whatever and then be done with it.

Perhaps as a Senator, Durbin caught much more flak and felt immense pressure to apologize. For the rest of us we may not have even given it a second thought. Do I wish he would have said it differently, maybe yes, but do I think less of him for apologizing, I don't think so. With the RUSH of attacks against him I suppose he was under great pressure. I think I would have simply said "perhaps HOW I said what I said should have been worded differently, however I'm deeply disturbed by what has been going on"! The way he apologized bothered me more than the apology itself.

There is another way to look at it too. We have begun to see some anger and fight from the Dems these days and there's a message out there that we aren't going to sit idly by. This is causing the Repukes to sit up and listen, and REACT. Ergo ROVE and his stupidity.

So maybe we are beginning to SHAKE them more than before. I say, let's MOVE ON, and keep KICKING!
