Mr. Rove,
I am writing this letter in response to your divisive and mean spirited comments regarding Democrats and liberals and the 9/11 attacks. Mr. Rove, I am a Democrat who used to be a Republican, but left the party after watching the catastrophe that is Iraq. The poor strategic planning especially in the aftermath of the initial combat phase and the lack of strategic vision in the administration and upper echelon of the Pentagon, in regards to equipping the "boots on the ground" and unwillingness of the administration to admit and correct mistakes, made me realize I could no longer support the administration that I voted for in 2000.
Mr. Rove, unlike you and many others in the administration and your supporters in the media, I actually served for eight years in the US Army as a Combat Medical Specialist, (MOS 91B). I know full well the cost of war and what results, when those who make the decisions that affect soldiers in the field, are made by men who never wore the uniform. I also, in my civilian capacity, stood on the smoldering rubble of the World Trade Center and wept and grieved for those buried below. I supported the war in Afghanistan against the Taliban and Osama Bin Ladin, but unlike the President and the administration, believed we needed to address the real culprits behind 9/11, the Saudis. Why havent the Saudis been held to account. If 15 of the 19 hijackers had been Iranians, would we have hesitated to strike Tehran? I think not. So in closing Mr. Rove, I believe a full and forthright apology to Democrats and Liberals is required, especially to those of us who wore the uniform, and dug in the pile, while you hid on Air Force One.
