I want a Democracy like they have in Iran!
Has anyone else seen the reports from Iran!? The Iranians are REALLY GETTING INTO THE RUNNOFF ELECTION. Its like a big big party there. Turnout is HUGE. Women voting for the first time. Its a really exciting time for Iranians...


I wish we had elections like that.

3. You should take a look at the Link TV report....
THey are very very very very happy and the election seems totally legitamate.


A liberal vs a hardliner...Who cares who vets? As long as there is a real choice... its Democracy if you ask me.

4. No, they ARE vetted by the clerics
They only approved a handful of candidates, acceptible to the clerics, and the "moderate" isn't a liberal by any stretch. He's a very tepid reformer.

And it doesn't matter who gets elected b/c the president has virtually no power - every action the president undertakes can be vetoed by the clerics.

It's a completely false choice. The idea that Iranian "democracy" is something we should be embracing is assinine - although that's exactly what the religious right would love to have in this country. Just imagine if Jerry Falwell and James Dobson vetted our Presidential candidates, only let their approved candidates run, and then kept all the power to themselves. That's democracy?

He quoted bush's list on how corrupt Iran's election was and then Leno said, that's what we've got here.
