I have a GREAT IDEA for mass communication by the people
We have got to keep it simple. Nothing fancy. Nothing diffuse and disorganized. Something extremely easy to remember and something that can be repeated and repeated and repeated in grass roots campaign across this country in mass media, to our politicians, on bumper stickers.

Send your email letter to the editor and to cnn and cbsnews and local radio stations and Randi Rhodes where you simply say:

IMPEACH BUSH NOW

Get US Troops out of IRAQ

Subject line can be anything..but just a simple statement or two that clarifies the point:

IMPEACH BUSH NOW for lying us into war.

GET OUT OF IRAQ ASAP.

DOn't talk about this GOP statement or Rove or Guantanamo or other.

Just say IMPEACH BUSH for lying to US, the American People.

and SUPPORT THE TROOPS--Bring them home.

I will let you know how I do getting my friends and family to do likewise
but hopefully we can just throw tons of emails out with those one -liners.

Choose your way of expressing them and say them over and over and over to anyone who will listen.

2. Hmm. A rude and crude response to an honest suggestion.
How nice.

3. hey. I'll be the first go agree with you on that. BUT!
"everyone I know has a big but"....Peewee Herman

You have got to do something on a massive scale. Whether it be taking to the streets and causing commotion or anything else.

John Conyers was put in the position of HAVING to back his words up about marching to WH with petition signatures because of the OVERWHELMING RESPONSE.

same thought applies. If NYT and LA Times and Chicago Tribune and Detroit Free Press and CNN and the White House and A bung of Congress Critters and others get deluged with this type of email...it is News. It naturally affects what they cover.

Look at how they TRIED and TRIED to ignore Downing Street Memo but the people kept hammerin and hammerin away.

4. Not really
There's that old Chinese saying: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Believe me, it starts in your backyard, so to speak. It starts on your block, in your dorm, at your coffehouse, near your library, at your grocery store, wherever people are. It starts with people talking, and then the talk translates into action.

Whether it's small marches or large demonstrations, it all starts with something small.

Forget the NY Times. They have no interest in your emails - notice what the world is like today? Nada.

John Conyers got nothing. Where do you think that "petition" is today? Shredded and gone. Nothing came of it. Nothing comes of that stuff. That's what I'm trying to say.

But, if you make news in your small town, and you make sure your small town newspaper covers it, more people in the town see what's happening, and that's how it begins.

Forget anything that isn't in person. Live bodies are being blown to bits in the Middle East, and live bodies will have to act to stop it all.

5. hear hear. but don't forget to supplement it in off moments with
real conversations at work...real emails DIRECTLY from YOU to people in power and get on the phone and say the same simple words.

you cannot understand that the simple acts of sending a 1 or 2 sentence email will matter more on the senders side...

that sender will feel empowered and want to follow up with more.

if you get 10 million sending emails and letters and making phone calls, you will get 1 million marching in the streets.

6. I hope you're right
My only concern is getting the live bodies up and away from their keyboards and out into the world, where they can really make a difference.

My life has been a grand journey, although I'm despairing at what I see now. But, frankly, I've played it through and I'm happy. This is for the kids coming up behind me and my generation. We tried our best, but now, it's up to you, and if you think you can battle this Hydra from your comfortable chairs at your keyboards and monitors, that's where you'll be when the last of your liberties and rights are taken away.

9. you know, I was thinking about that BIG NEGATIVE of internet
that some hover in solitude and get the "virtual community" experience thinking that is good enough

Believe me, my brother and I are screwing up the courage to pay for plane tickets to Washington DC for protests planned for this summer.

I live in Portland so I'm sure I'll have a chance to be involved locally too.

Appreciate your reminder about live bodies. We need to hear it again and again.

11. Dress light,
drink lots of water, and have a blast. It's a terrific, beautiful, wonderful city.

Make sure you go to the Vietnam Memorial - but go at night. That's when I go. It's an experience like nothing you'll have anywhere else.

16. Bush probably burns all petitions, etc. I agree,
the only thing that will stop the war is the people. If the congress doesn't speak up, the people must. It was true during vietnam and is still true. Bush's polls are in the toilet, and heading further down. He thinks he can read some stupid prepared speech, and everyone will start again to support his war. Got news it ain't gonna happen!!!!

8. And you're doing a fine job of it
It's great for you to stay in touch with each other while the revolution is taking place.

But, if you think any elected representatives - or even those thugs in the White House - pay any attention to any of it, you're sorely mistaken.

I'm sorry, but after 30 years as a Washington lawyer, I know a little bit about how these things work.

Live bodies.

Now, be careful and look both ways before crossing ........... :)

12. You can't see me?
I can look down and see you just fine.

Wave to me and make a funny face.

(I'm across the river right now, in the wilds of Northern Virginia.)

15. Change has never happened without people in the streets
Unions? People gave their lives in Haymarket Square and other cities for that.

The new deal? Releif from the depression? Hobo encampments on the mall and arlington.

The Vietnam War? Vietnam Vets against the war occupying the mall, Kent State, and other demonstrations throughout the country.

The corporate media doesn't give a shit about your e-mails.
