Wolf asks, "Is the country ready for a Jewish President?" re: Lieberman
Yes, the country is ready for a Jewish president...they are just not ready for a Jewish president like Joe Lieberman. That's similar to asking if the country is ready for a Hispanic Supreme Court Justice and then put up the name of Bush's recent Appeals Court nominee..

It's an unfair and ignorant question by Wolf Blitzer. But does that surprise anyone. Joe Lieberman is not representative of the majority in the Democratic Party. In fact, he probably has more support in the Republican Party. So it is not a question about him being unelectable because he is Jewish. He is unelectable because he is not representative of his own Party.

1. So we nominate instead someone that belongs to an anti-Semitic cult
which is what Skull & Bones is. We are doomed!

7. Skull & Bones is not a fraternity, but a secret Order
Kerry has refused all comments about its membership.

8. aren't they supposed to refuse comment about it
If it's a secret order, it's kinda self-explanatory, don't you think?

:)

And what exactly are you afraid of? That things will get WORSE under Kerry than they are under Bush?

Do you really think that's possible? And if you do, please tell me the areas that this country will continue to decline in.

6. Is Skull & Bones anti-Jewish - I didn't know that. Just add something
else to Bush's charms - he is anti-Jewish - great! (sarcasm)

4. Bush and Kerry belong to an anti-Semitic organization (Skull & Bones)
George Bush, Skull & Bones
and the New World Order
A New American View
International Edition White Paper
Paul Goldstein and Jeffrey Steinberg
April 1991

This secret fraternity is based at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where many of the leading members of the U.S. government and the American intelligence community received their formal education. The Order, as it is referred to by its members, is a bastion of White Anglo Saxon Protestant (WASP) culture, which is at the core of the American 20th century outlook. The reader will learn that President George Herbert Walker Bush's concept of the New World Order is an old idea, one which has its origins in the philosophy and beliefs of the secret Skull & Bones fraternity. Today in particular, this is the prevailing outlook of the U.S. government, many of whose most influential members, like the president himself, are part of the Skull & Bones network. These men seek to recreate the American imperium of the immediate post-World War II period, an era which President Bush frequently refers to as "the American Century." The powerful men of Skull & Bones genuinely believe that they have a strategic and moral "right" to control world affairs. Consequently, they take upon themselves the authority to crush any rivalrous threat to U.S. imperial leadership, whether by current allies, such as Japan, Germany or Great Britain, or by Cold War adversaries, like the Soviet Union. The members of the Order, due to their narrow WASP upbringing, view with particular suspicion the maneuverings of Zionist Israel and its affluent, influential lobby in the United States.

5. Somehow I don't think that's
currently a driving issue in this campaign. So what's Wolf's angle?

9. A better question is...
whether or not the country is ready for a half-wolf, half-troll, so-called news reporter to be permitted to sit so close to any of our future presidents. I mean, has CNN considered their liability in any of this?

12. Lieberman can't claim exclusive "Jew rights" in this campaign.
True, he's the only practicing Orthodox Jew among the candidates, but we also have Dean with a Jewish wife and kids, Kerry with a Jewish grandpa, and Clark with a father who descended from a long line of Rabbis.

Joe's religion is the last thing I'm worried about.

13. Sad we still ask this
I remember when Phil Grahm was in the mix back on the Republican side in 1996, and someone in the media asked if his having an Asian-American wife would be an issue. Sad, just sad.

For the media, yes its an issue still, for most voters, I don't think it is. Remember some of the earliest polls in South Carolina, Lieberman was doing very well in those.

16. Phil Gramm's wife WAS an issue - for Republicans.
BTW, didn't she work for Enron or something? I remember her name involved in some right wing scandal, but don't remember exactly which one.
