First time I saw Cate Edwards on the campaign trail with her dad

wow, she's very cute and classy, I see a lot of john in her smile :) she would make a great "first daughter", put those wild, ignorant bush daughters to shame.

you know she actually goes to college in princeton nj, not to far from where I live and go to school. very cool!

3. auto accident in 1996

John's first son Wade passed away in a a freak auto accident when his SUV tipped over. Nobody really knows the details, but John still wears his "Outward Bound" pin on his lapel.

5. Car accident when he was 16. Driving to the beach.

No drugs or alcohol. Probably a gust of wind lifted his Jeep. The other passengers unharmed.

John and Elizabeth have set up several afterschool programs in his name. He was apparantly a wonderful kid, who inspired John to go into politics.

6. an accident

an automobile accident. i believe he was 16.he is actually about my age so it was weird reading about it when i first did. but edwards doesn't talk about it in public and says it's a private matter he keeps within the family other than just acknowledging what happened. there is some educational thing set up in his son's memory though. i think someone else here might have the site if you want to check it out.
