OK, what is it about George Allen?

I really was not at all familiar with the guy but have been watching him recently and he comes across as a complete bore. He has as much personality as a toad, does not articulate well and he always has this little phony smile......maybe better described as a smirk. I watched Barbara Boxer eat him alive on Hardball a couple of weeks back. Why all the talk about him? What is his appeal?

You (and others in this thread) have outlined my reasons why. Smug, arrogant, and he can sometimes come-off as a bit of a backwoods yokel. We'd have a nice shot at winning with him as their nominee (especially with the GOP-induced mess we'll have in 2008), and with pretty much anyone we nominate.

He and Kilgore are useless. Kilgore's voice reminds me of someone on TV in a comedy situation but I can't put my finger on it. I think it's the little grey haired gay guy on Will and Grace.
