Here's a question... Bush has declared war on..
Terrorism... What gave him the right to do that? Since congress is the only legal body that can declare war, how does the Shrub get to do this?

13. I agree
I've often wondered how it is that somebody can "declare war" on a thing, or a philosophy, or political theory and not get laughed off the soapbox he's on. Just goes to show ya how damn stupid this country is to take the little chimp seriously when he gibbers about the "war on terra". Pathetic.

4. Congress did vote for the war on terrorism
it was a unanimous vote (or nearly-unanimous), shortly after 9/11.

Not a declaration of war technically, but a vote broadly supporting military action.

6. We like to declare war on concepts in America
War on terror, war on crime, war on poverty, war on drugs. It's just how we do things here.

10. More correctly: Maybe the don't want "freedom".
"Freedom" forced on them at the point of a bayonet. "Freedom" which will allow the US to steal their natural resources. "Freedom" which will allow an endless occupation of their country. "Freedom" which doesn't provide basic services or a decent chance in life.

I can see why they wouldn't want that "freedom".

14. It is ridiculous to declare war on a tactic.
It would be like the French declaring war on Blitzkrieg. A war on terror whose aim is to end terrorist attacks once and for all is an exercise in folly; warfare can only be carried out between states, and sadly, tactics, like warfare, are eternal.
