Norquist: "2 girls from Maine and the nut-job from Arizona"

When Repubs Attack -- Each Other
by Joe in DC - 6/27/2005 04:25:00 PM

Love it when they start bashing each other. First, Cheney goes after Hagel. Now conservative leader Grover Norquist attacks three GOP Senators over at the College Chickenhawks conference:

Speaking to the same group a few hours later, party strategist Grover Norquist lambasted three Republicans who broke party ranks over the issue of judicial filibusters. He referred to them as "the two girls from Maine and the nut-job from Arizona" - Sens. Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe and John McCain.

Seems to be more of this going around.

7. McCain, Snowe and Collins 'know their place'...they will not fight back
They'll roll over and shout, 'Thank you, sir, may I have another!?'

They do it over and over. They pretend to be independent because it plays better to their constituency. If Snowe or Collins were in Alabama, I'm sure they'd be fahr-breathin' rock-ribbed prayer-meetin' conservatives.

8. Not true
Maine is, or was a state that has major military ties. The leverage Snowe and Collins have used in the past to keep these bases (and BIW) open are a major reason why they vote the way they do. However, if what looks like might happen to these bases actually happens, I think you'll see some real rebellion on their part. Even Sununu might throw a hissy fit over Portsmith. And if they actually put a toxic waste dump there I would not be suprised at all to see them jump ship (if they get re-elected).

10. You are talking about future possible surprises
I'm talking about their past performance, which is a charade of independence.

When was the last time they voted in a way that made a difference on something the monsters wanted? The 'compromise' doesn't count, since the monsters are still getting everything they want, they just don't get it all at once.

Maybe some day there will be something that actually pisses them off enough to break with the * admin, and it could be base closings, but all I'm saying is not to expect a reaction over merely being called 'two girls and a nutcase'.

12. It is all about idological purity
espically for Norquist. If you are not 100% anti-tax, you are not relevant at all. He lives in a very, very narrow world.

14. Didn't the RepubliKKKans Already Try and Paint McCain a Nut...
...back when he was running against Bush for 2000?

I seem to recall how they tried to make McCain sound unfit because he was mentally unstable after being tortured as a POW?

Am I wrong?

There is so much evil with this Administration it is sometimes hard to keep things straight*.
