John Conyers: "I am pushing forward on a number of fronts."
You may have noticed that the original blog had its share of freeper posts. Probably for this and "enhancement" reasons, the newer posts have been "read only". The new blog will require registration. But on the "good news" side, JC reports"

"I am pushing forward on a number of fronts. I will announce some of the next steps here at the same time I relaunch the blog."

===========================================================

http://www.conyersblog.us/

The Blog Relaunches Soon...
Next Steps on DSM Soon...

Conyersblog will soon be relaunched (with apologies to Kos, this is my version 3.0). I think the most important part of any blog is the space that allows for reader comments. However, I set some rules for the blog that seemed to me to be basic and common courtesies. Some were unwilling or unable to abide by these rules and seemed to act with no other purpose than to disrupt the ability to have constructive conversation. In a way, it is a backhanded compliment that this site was receiving so much traffic that some of our less tolerant friends wanted to disrupt it. Nonetheless, I did not want any site I am associated with to carry the kind of rude, profane or bigoted comments that were being left here. I made the decision to turn off the comments until a better system was in place.

On to the good news, in the next couple of days, we launch version 3.0. It will require registration and for paticipants to abide by the rules. It will also have some new features and safeguards that will make it easier to use.

Finally, after the very successful hearing on the DSM, I am pushing forward on a number of fronts. I will announce some of the next steps here at the same time I relaunch the blog.

Thanks to all of you, and especially those who have been such an important part of this site from the very beginning. I look forward to receiving your input, comments and ideas through this blog again in the very very near future.

1. Freepers would piss on their own child's birthday cake
if they found out a liberal had a hand in the baking.

13. Good for Conyers
There's only so much you can allow on your own personal website. Whenever an admin came out and other poster's tried to calm down some of the freepers they would scream "freedom of speech!" and all that. It's Conyers blog and they were going off topic. This one guy would just post the same thing over and over in every post. Never be on topic. I can't wait till I can post again at his blog. Love Conyers! :loveya:

17. Well, you know what they say...
By thy friends art thou known. Just consider the mentality of people who would leave such "rude, profane or bigoted comments" - and the people they support.

The whole lot of them can go get bent for all I care.

2. How very sad that comments can not be accepted for the forseeable future.
Maybe we can convince him to get volunteer moderators.

14. Yep
Very much. They never actually debated or anything. Just rightwing talking points over and over. What got me upset is when they started personally saying awful things about Conyers. One poster even called him the "n" word. After all the greatness Conyers has done over the years since Nixon.

19. They reveal more than they realize in what they say. Calling them
an embarrassment to the human race is redundant.

5. Tragic that the freepers stole our chance to give Conyers our input
so directly, participating in his blog discussions. It was glorious while it lasted.

7. Sounds good to me. Then people who abuse the forum can be banned
Given the number of freepers who apparently have nothing better to do than disrupt other people's lives, it was inevitable.

Thanks for the clarification. That's much less depressing - it's a reasonable development and it sounds like it won't take long to set up.

Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 11:00 PM by AuntiBush
Think of those darn FReepers like this... "when they stop noticing, you're not getting through..."

Obviously, all the hardwork you've done in the most sincere, earnest and patriotic way due to the stuanch brave stands you take-on, when no one else will step-up to that plate (for the good of all Americans both present and future) has "hit a raw nerve" on the other side of the voter-aisle.

:) sir!

Can't wait to register for the new version blog & updates on the DSM!

Don't you just love Conyers.
What a stateman!
A true American hero!

16. A moderated blog is a good idea.
The freepers were just there to disrupt and annoy.

Took away their fun and we'll soon be able to post on Conyer's site again.

Thanks for posting the update.

This photo was carried in one of the online articles by Knight-Ridder newspapers on the Conyers Basement Hearing. The K-R news service has been the only one in the US that has consistently told the truth about the DSM and related issues, a fact about which it is rightfully proud:

20. Great news!
Had wondered if the DSM's had been debunked since the news that the originals were destroyed by the reporter and retyped. But I also knew that neither Blair nor * denied the fact that the memo's were real. I just get so sick and tired of the MSM trying to sweep a major scandal under the rug in order to prop up our inept imperial leader (NOT MINE!!).
