4Th of July Protesting for the 1st time-help w/Oregon laws?
:dilemma:
I plan on doing some "picketing" on a nearby freeway overpass in the morning on the 4th.The area has good visibility & lots of traffic. Simple sign, about 2x3?, I intend to walk in loops arond the intersection & stay on the sidewalk etc...Trying not to break any laws.

I do know the local police will likely give me a shake down. I have no warrants or anything but I wonder what kind of harrasment & may incur from the gendarms?

What information am I required to give them?(I will bicycle over)

I can only assume a bedsheet sized sign be a violation?(I would have to hang it on the overpass).

I also plan to carry a digital video cam "just in case"

I live a very quiet life & really don't want to get arrested for something stupid so I just thought I'd ask some advice here 1st...
Thanks!

:patriot:

1. What "IS"the protest?
Welcome to DU and you will see where I'm from.
I certainly don't stand up for or behind any protest in this state without being aware of why. We have a pretty nice state comparatively. I am willing to let the world know just how great it is so long as it gives no reason for any influx of republicans or religious fundies. If I ever carry a sign that might get on any national media, I would want it to announce that Oregon is strong on freedom and diversity and all who agree are welcome.

2. What are you protesting...
And what town will you be in? That would be helpful to know... since some towns are more "Protest Friendly" than others.

3. Ya know I thought that was just too obvious(what am I protesting?)
I would be just putting a message out there. Not any organized event, just a lone wolf kinda thing.

The town is Gresham/Fairview

Sign will likely read "Support our troops, impeach Bush!" & Support America,Impeach Bush"

Or the old stand by "Worst President Ever/Worst Economic Policy Ever!

Figure about 6 hours will be all I can take before I mosey home & go for the fireworks...
