I May Go and See John Edwards in Columbus Thursday
He is holding an event to rally law makers to raise the states minimum wage. It would be interesting for me because I am a 15 year old Ohio restaurant worker that wishes he could make minimum wage (I make 3.25 an hour) I Dont Know Yet if im going but if I can talk my mom into taking me I am there. It sounds eventful and who knows I may even get to meet him.

Here are the details, does it seem worth it keeping in mind Columbus is a 2 & 1/2 hour drive or will it just be a short 15 minute or so speech that will not be worth my time or money?

---------Snip

"The One America Committee is partnering with grassroots allies, labor unions, and others to organize and pass minimum wage ballot initiatives in targeted states in 2006."

3:00 PM
Edwards to speak at Coalition to Raise the Ohio Minimum Wage event

867 Mt. Vernon Avenue

1. Yes, you should go meet John Edwards...
and after you get back, tell us about it. I've never met anyone who wasn't inspired by his honesty. He's really a down to earth person, you will like him. He also has some great idea's about poverty, and the wage. IMO, it will be an experience you will always remember.

The event itself will last longer. Probably other speakers, information, people you'll meet you can get in touch with online later. You'll have a ball if you go!

Once as a presidential candidate, once as the VP candidate.

Although he won't be directly in "campaign mode," you will find that he's a confident, considerate, knowledgeable speaker, and has a gift for connecting with a crowd, be it large or small.

Be sure to go!

6. Good for you, and good for him. I say, go.
The atmosphere at these events is just as important as what is actually said. I'm sure Edwards will make a number of important points in his statement, but so will others at the rally. It isn't just for "15 minutes", and it is important that rallies like this are well attended so that the message being sent gets taken seriously. I hope you go, and I hope you report back later.

7. Go and tell him that you make $3.25 an hour and you drove...
...2.5 (or 5?) hours to hear his speach because you're looking for inspiration in the fight for economic justice in America.
