Jerry Springer is an embarrassment!

This morning, Springer's main topic was the upcoming speech tonight about Iraq. Springer gave his version of what Bush SHOULD HAVE told the people before attacking Iraq.

He suggested that Bush should have asked the American people PERMISSION to depose Saddam, explaining that he was a bad man who should be removed. EGAD. Springer went on to say that this is how presidents work in a democracy...they ask the people before they choose to go to war. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Springer is a total embarrassment. He makes Rush look good. At least Rush does his homework and spreads propaganda with intent, not ignorance. Springer seemed to lack even the basic understanding of International Law - which specifically prohibits regime change, and prohibits preventive wars. International Law only allows pre-emptive wars if there is in IMMINENT THREAT. Duh! That's why Bush LIED about the WMD's ....that's why he went to Congress to ask for extraordinary war powers.

Springer also had no clue that only the Congress can declare war. Presidents don't go to the people and ask if they can arbitrarily attack other nations. The man is an idiot, and this is why the left is losing credibility and respect. If this is the best of Air America Radio, we're in real trouble. The only people who really know what's happening are Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy. But Jerry Springer has four hours of morning air time..... and that's a big mistake.

On the plus side, I emailed the show with these points and he read the letter on the air. The negative side is that Springer's only comment was : that's right. And he went on to continue his premise. He, like Dubya, could not acknowledge being wrong.


This is not his first embarrassing statement. His backgound in international history is woefully lacking. And that's only helping uninformed Americans to become even more uninformed. It's really sad.

In April I drove cross country and I actually heard him say that he 'respected' Rush!! He was groveling that he wasn't as good as Rush!! I couldn't believe it. I don't bother to listen anymore. because I heard him on satellite radio one time and I thought he was brilliant. At that time, it was right after one of **'s mock press conferences and Springer was right on target with that bullshit.

Springer said that Bush should have said at the beginning that we were going to Iraq to bring Iraq democracy. He said that the American people would never have agreed to go to war in Iraq if that was the only reason given and I am in full agreement with that.

Bush didn't say that at the beginning - he never talked about bringing democracy until later. He was threatening us with visions of a nucleur bomb which he well knew Saddam didn't have. He was intimating he had knowledge of WMD that he couldn't reveal the details of - which turned out to be purely false.

Maybe Springer could word things differently, but I understood his premise that Bush misled us to war and I don't have a problem with it. Springer is a breath of fresh air compared to Ed Schultz.

You're trashing the ONLY liberal media outlet we have in America. Springer is good at getting the ear of our less educated citizenry. He doesn't talk above their heads. While you and I might like a more erudite and educated discussion, face it, most of America is clueless. They want entertainment, which, incidentally, informs and presents an alternate reality to what is spun by the fascists. Springer is great in this regard and should definitely stay on AA.
