Congressional Members to Hold 'Downing Street' Town Hall Meetings on July 23rd!p

The BRAD BLOG has learned that Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and a number of other Congressional Members will announce their intention to hold open Town Hall Meetings across the country on July 23rd to discuss the "Downing Street Documents" with constituents.

The meetings, to be held on the same day around the country in the members' various Congressional Districts, will mark the third year anniversary of the creation of the original Downing Street Minutes document which revealed that the Bush Administration had determined at least eight months prior to the War on Iraq that they intended to topple Saddam through military means, and planned to "fix" the intelligence and facts around the policy.

6. What is outcome of these?

Are they hoping to affect 2006 elections? If so, good idea...and they'll have to be sure that undecideds or republicans attend these in order to change minds. Don't need to have hearings to preach to the choir.

Are they hoping to gain input that will validate filing articles of impeachment? If so, I'm for it.

Are they hoping to spread the word about getting millions to Washington to march on the WH, demanding an independent investigation into DSM, torture, napalm, etc. If so, I'm for it and will fly to any such major protest.

I'm tired of speeches, hearings in the basement, apologies, petitions, etc that lead nowhere. Action is needed.

7. I'd like to see DEMs to go directly on TV interview shows to discuss this.

Especially "star" DEMs like Dean, Kerry, Hillary, etc.

The networks wont cover these meetings, and the only folks who will go to them are folks who already know about the memos.

The top, "star" DEMs could be doing more to help Conyers get this in the media spot-light.
