Tonight's Speech...WTF

Okay...so, I'm listening to the radio in the car and hear about Bush's speech tonight. My impression was that he was going to "speak to the people." Kinda like other President's have done, from behind his desk, sort of one on one with the American people.

Perhaps not...it appears that he will give this speech in front of a large group of Ft. Bragg soldiers. At least that is the impression that the radio was giving. Does anyone find this, well...sort of cowardly??? He is going to speak to the American people in front of a highly partisan crowd. He will be interrupted by whoops and WHO-YAA the entire speech.

This man is a coward. He needs to come clean with the American people.

He is not a leader; he is a campaigner. Appearing with soldiers and/or a partisan crowd keeps him in "campaign mode" where he's comfortable. He doesn't know how to be a leader; he only knows how to be a WANNABE leader.

12. I was kindof hoping that one of he soldiers would subtlely give him the

finger or something like those POWs long ago. Maybw one of them would have something showing on his hat or uniform that would dis * and it would get past security and the audience would see it.
We can only hope that there is at least one guy there with some courage, even tho I know it may mean his career.

16. My dad had three friends who were on the USS Pueblo when it

was captured by the North Koreans. The Koreans decided to take a picture of the men to show the world how well they were being treated. One of my father's friends was in a photo and they all displayed the middle finger when the photo was taken. The North Koreans asked what it meant and they told them "Good luck in Hawaiian". The soldiers were very happy until they found out what it really meant. My father's friend told my dad that they got the shit beaten out of them for that.

Protest Bush Visit to Ft. Bragg!

Fayetteville, NC USA

Iraq veterans, military family members, and other peace advocates will protest the visit of George W. Bush to Ft. Bragg on Tuesday, June 28, where he will deliver a speech justifying ongoing U.S. military action in Iraq.

The schedule of events is as follows:

1 PM – Press conference at Quaker House, 223 Hillside Avenue (See Mapquest Link). Iraq Veterans and military family members will challenge the false picture of the war given out by the White House. Iraq Veteran and whistleblower Jimmy Massey, former Special Forces team leader Stan Goff, veteran Lou Plummer, and others will speak.

2PM-4 PM – Poster and sign-making at Quaker House. Media invited to observe. We will be updating a display bearing the names of all US soldiers killed in Iraq, plus memorials to the thousands of unnamed Iraqi victims.

5 PM-9 PM – Peace vigil and reading of the names of Iraqi war dead at the Market House, Hay and Green Streets, downtown Fayetteville.
