1. George Bush has no intention of ending the war in Iraq
2. This war is making big money for the stocks that George and company own.
3. We have a pretty fair idea that 9/11 was not an act of Terrorists
4. These guys lie most often.
5. They have some how gotten to cJohn Mccain and altered his beliefs
6. We have the DSM that don't lie.
7. We have a Presidential Speach tonite that said nothing new.

I could go on, and on and on...

6. WRT number one -- correction:
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 08:32 PM by Donailin
Bush has no intention of America ever leaving iraq. They want the war over, but we are building over 8 military bases there. The PNAC specifies military permanance in Iraq -- our foothold in the ME.

They did not anticipate the fact that the Iraqi people may have a slight problem with this idea.

8. 9/11
if you actually think that 9/11 was an 'inside job' & believe in corruption that extreme, why didn't the CIA simply plant WMD's, that would have been quite simple in comparison

12. who said 911 was an inside job?
I sure didn't. They would have gone to Iraq with or without 911. Every former administration official that was inside the WH said so in their books, PLUS it's part of "Rebuilding Americas Defenses" in the PNAC PLUS the Weekly Standard wrote column after column through the 90's with titles "Why we must Invade iraq" and the like. Look for yourself, take note of the authors. And then apologize for making assanine assumptions about what I think.

What's up with that?

Edit -- Oh, and I would change #1 to read that Mr. Bush has "no idea how to end the war in Iraq"

Not that he doesn't want it to end.. he just has no clue how to do it.

20. I think there's degrees of MIHOP -
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 02:50 PM by CJCRANE
"Hard MIHOP" is the stuff about remote-controlled planes, hidden explosives in WTC, no plane at Pentagon etc (i.e. the stuff that most people identify with "conspiracy theorists").

"Soft MIHOPers" are less interested in the technical & engineering aspects and more interested in the political/personal/financial connections...

11. It sounds like he practiced the speech a whole lot.
He didn't mangle any major words or turns of phrase (except nuclear...IT'S NEW-CLEE-UR NOT NEW-CUE-LUR YOU DUMBASS!)

He obviously didn't write a whole lot of it; while full of the same inane bullshit we've heard it was articulately constructed and he did an above average job of reading it.

13. Hey Jay..
You're giving Shrub wayyyy more credit than he deserves! :o

You said ..."He obviously didn't write a whole lot of it"

HAhahahHAAAA  ...He looks over the speeches, probably practices them until he's blue in the face, and as the Today Show reported once --- he occassionally -- once in a blue moon --- changes a word here or there..

But write his own !?!?!?!?!?! :wow:

Hell.. they won't even let him speak without a transcript and a teleprompter!

Remember the one time he went on with Russert for an hour? He did such a LOUSY job that his poll numbers slid off the map the next day.

America woke up thinking "Sheezuz kyreerist, that guys a complete idiot!" :o

They decided to never make that mistake again and he sticks to the scripts.

President Clinton wrote a LOT of his own speeches..

But Bush... :spray:

15. Take it from one who knows
Very few politicians anywhere write their own speeches and if they do have the bright idea that they would like to, people like me (in a former incarnation) make sure the idiots don't say anything too destructive. I'm sure Clinton did write plenty of his speeches - in cahoots with Stephanopolous et al.

21. I know that...I was just trying to say something nice!
And actually that's what made the speech rather boring for me...other than being a puree'd melange of every other policy speech he's made, he didn't pull one of those retarded flailing crash-and-burn English-language trainwrecks that I so enjoy watching.

Probably because he read it so much more skillfully than we're used to it made the most mind-boggling moment stand out for me: We're arming and training the Iraqis to become battle-hardened...so they can defend themselves...as opposed to what they're doing now...against an invasion...similar to the attack we initiated... <brain anyeurism>

Bush so fears the thought of a soverign country like us being invaded, that we've become the exact boogeyman he claims to want to protect us from.

19. funny thought
Suppose his teleprompter died. I couldn't stand watching so I've listened to all the coverage today. Was there a new sentence in the whole speech? I've heard everything before. Someone please tell me how this was supposed to reassure the American people? Reassure us of what, that the president and his cronies are fools?
