BUSH: Last throes of credibility...
WHAT Americans needed to hear from President Bush were more clearly defined goals and an exit strategy for what increasingly appears to be a quagmire in Iraq.

What they received last night was a pep talk and more ambiguity.

"Like most Americans, I see the images of violence and bloodshed. Every picture is horrifying and the suffering is real," Bush said in his nationally televised speech. "It is worth it."

And is the insurgent situation in Afganistan in it's last "throes" also?

"All 17 US troops in Afghan crash believed dead"
