Bush: 55 percent approve of Bush's performance on terrorism?
Is this due to the fact that we haven't been bombed since 9-11-2001?

What makes Bush so popular on Terrorism? I don't get it, can someone clue me in?

How many years went by since the first bombing of the WTC'S before 9-11? {8]

2. Yes I think that is it
For all his shortcomings, he (or someone anyway) has been successful in preventing any more attacks.

4. yes..and for all my shortcomings I've been able to keep my
neighbor from winning the lottery for a second time. oh. and low probability of it occurring had something to do with it too.

5. Nah.
The problem is that the WTC was so spectacular, they either have to equal or surpass it. Anything less is open to the perception of weak follow-through.

They don't want people to think of 9/11 as "they got lucky."

As long as they do nothing, they are huge with the power to do it again. If they attempt something else and it's less...people will say, "That's it? That's all you got?" and stop being terrified.

So there's more advantage in doing nothing and saying "Boo!" every now and then, instead of actual doing.

6. Farseer> let's see if we make it to the 8 year mark before feeling
comfortable over Bush's protection of the US>

5 years hadn't passed since we were bombed in New York -- 8 years went by before the second attempt was made hitting the same target!

So what's all the hoopla about not being bombed since 9-11-2001

7. I'm not suggesting he's doing a bang up job
but you can't argue with the fact that there haven't been anymore terrorist attacks and that looks good to alot of people, I guess

10. I can just about guarantee you that is not
Islamic terrorism. It's probably some bush thugs. Or just some crazy-ass white guy like the rural pipe-bomber guy was. But you are correct, it is an arguable point after all.

3. I don't believe that for a minute. Anyhow, wait until the next MIHOP or
LIHOP (which is due any time now that his poll numbers are in the toilet). It will be a lose/lose for the dumbass.

11. Actually, that number is dropping.
Unless I'm mistaken, it was much higher only a few months ago.

12. That means 45% are not impressed
even though there hasn't been another WTC. I find that interesting.

Maybe this 45% are thinking internationally and the 55% are thinking domestically?

13. 'Performance on Terrorism' is a polite euphemism...
...for 'killing swarthies who worship the wrong God without let or hindrance'.

And he's certainly doing that.

He'll dominate the issue till the issue is re-defined.

14. Next terror attack, Bush** is TOAST
I can easily believe that 55% of Americans do not posess anything beyond the most basic concrete reasoning abilities. I say this as a former high school teacher. By the mid teens the human mind is supposed to develop the more advanced abstract reasoning skills such as application and analysis, but far too many don't make it that far.

This leads to me to believe that if we are ever attacked again the bottom will fall out on his numbers in this area. There may be widespread panic leading to a serious social crisis. It won't even have to be half as spectacular as 911.
