Reid slams Santorum -The Hill
Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) exchanged harsh words with Republican Conference Chairman Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) on the Senate floor yesterday, accusing him of practicing “crass politics.” In an unusually personal speech, Reid said, “I will not be lectured about civility by the junior senator from Pennsylvania who has repeatedly disrespected veterans.”

Earlier in the day, Santorum asked Reid to “show some leadership and some civility,” saying Reid had acted in a “partisan fashion” after Reid questioned the credentials of Veterans Affairs Secretary Jim Nicholson on veterans issues. Reid later apologized for failing to acknowledge Nicholson’s past military service.

Nicholson had opposed Democratic-led efforts to increase veterans funding, which Santorum also opposed.......

Tear 'em up Harry :grr:

Headlines yesterday were about 'GOP pumps money into Vet affairs!', perpetuating the MYTH that repubs are the best friends of the military. It was the DEMOCRATS who recognized (and were prepared to meet the needs of) returning vets.

2. What Harry Reid needs to do
is take that sanctimonious pompous ass Sanctorom over to Walter Reed to see the men and women that he and his criminal Rethuglican pals in the Senate have left to suffer and die because they have fought tooth and nail against Veterans' funding. These worthless traitors would kill and maim every soldier in uniform and then kick them to the curb if it achieved political gain for their party.

I hope that Mr. Santorum gets the chance to meet his maker some day. I would like to sell popcorn at that event.

3. I think they are or did close Walter Reed, I have
a friend who is in Med School, on an Army scholarship, and he wanted to rotate there and they told him it was too late, that it was closing. Haven't heard anything in the news, but go figure -right?

4. There is a new medical center that has opened
or will be opening soon in the DC area, I forget the name and location. Supposed to be state of the art as Walter Reed is inadequate for the current needs of Vets and has been for some time now.

Santorum is political road kill and is now on borrowed time. Not that I am a political expert by any means, but if he is returned to the Senate in 2006 it would be a major upset or coup de tat. I think we can count this seat as a +1 for the Democrats unless Casey really drops the ball. Heck, I expect Santorum to find a convenient excuse to retire if things get much worse.

Reid wasn’t going after an ICON here. Reid was going after a deserted religious quack that has very few friends left willing to stick their head on the guillotine with him.

I appreciate Santorum working hard to close down puppy mills, but I trust Casey will continue that work and then some while also showing some semblance of sanity in the halls of the Senate.

Good day Ricky-boy, your like is hoped to never be seen again in public office.
