Fly on the wall at a Republican fundraiser
I managed to get invited to one, and couldn't resist. As it happens, this one was for a congressional candidate, and Duke Cunningham was supposed to host it. To the great relief of the candidate, Cunningham backed out at the last minute, saving the awkwardness of having to un-invite him. ;-)

Now the candidate and guests are actually quite moderate (boy is that rare), so I didn't have to be subjected to a lot of 'puke BS. I did note with interest that a Congressman mentioned Bush's Iraq speech, and the best he could say was, "He did a good job with it, technically." Wow, there's a ringing endorsement. :sarcasm:

2. I'm not wondering.
You can see it happening right now. Even "Freedom Fries" Jones sponsored a resolution demanding a timetable for Iraq pullout. Bush will probably be out before 2006 anyway, so there will be no need for distancing.

What makes you think he'll be out befoore another congressional election? Or even after?
Me, I'm almost positive we'll have to deal with his sorry ass till 2008.

4. The pukes are breaking ranks.
Some of the angriest ones are the true conservatives, who despise the neocons. The "I" word has been used regularly on the floor these days. The momentum is visibly building. My prediction was that it would take about the same length of time as it did to get rid of Nixon: a little under 2 years. So far, we're about on course (counting from the start of the 2nd term, as with Nixon).

And when it comes to politics, I've learned to trust my brain.

Oh, and I've also learned to wallow in cynicism. So don't take me seriously :)
