Poll question: Clark supporters, let's talk campaign music.
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 06:38 PM by jchild
Clark has been using "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey as he enters rallies and events.

He uses Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Crossfire" after he finishes speaking.

I think he needs to stick with Stevie Ray--"Crossfire" for entrance and exit. Here are the lyrics to "Crossfire":
*********************************
Day by day, night after night
Blinded by the neon light
Hurry here, hustling there
No one's got the time to spare
Money's tight, nothing free
Won't somebody come and rescue me

I am stranded, caught in the crossfire
Stranded, caught in the crossfire

Tooth for tooth, eye for an eye
Sell your soul just to bop on by
Beggin' for a dollar, stealin' a dime
Come on can't you see that I'm
Stranded, caught in the crossfire
I am stranded, caught in the crossfire
I need some, kind of kindness
Some kind of sympathy, oh no

(Lead) Save the strong, lose the weak
Never turning the other cheek
Trust nobody, don't be no fool
Whatever happened to the golden rule...
**********************************

Don't you guys think Crossfire's lyrics fit his campaign much better than "Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world...the smell of wine and cheap perfume......"

So let's cast our DU Democratic votes now:

Edited to add Marley. Sorry to those of you who already voted who would have voted for Marley. :-(

5. If they could rerecord Goodbye Earl and say Goodbye George
and fit the lyrics from spousal abuse to citizen abuse, I would say GO FOR IT!

Wish he could get them to do that!

But if Bob Marley was up there, I would have chosen Bob Marley.

11. Marley Lyrics..
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: don’t give up the fight!

Preacherman, don’t tell me,
Heaven is under the earth.
I know you don’t know
What life is really worth.
It’s not all that glitters is gold;
’alf the story has never been told:
So now you see the light, eh!
Stand up for your rights. come on!

Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: don’t give up the fight!
Get up, stand up: stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up: don’t give up the fight!

Most people think,
Great God will come from the skies,
Take away everything
And make everybody feel high.
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth:
And now you see the light,
You stand up for your rights. jah!

Get up, stand up! (jah, jah!)
Stand up for your rights! (oh-hoo!)
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up!)
Don’t give up the fight! (life is your right!)
Get up, stand up! (so we can’t give up the fight!)
Stand up for your rights! (lord, lord!)
Get up, stand up! (keep on struggling on!)
Don’t give up the fight! (yeah!)

We sick an’ tired of-a your ism-skism game -
Dyin’ ’n’ goin’ to heaven in-a jesus’ name, lord.
We know when we understand:
Almighty God is a living man.
You can fool some people sometimes,
But you can’t fool all the people all the time.
So now we see the light (what you gonna do? ),
We gonna stand up for our rights! (yeah, yeah, yeah!)

So you better:
Get up, stand up! (in the morning! git it up!)
Stand up for your rights! (stand up for our rights!)
Get up, stand up!
Don’t give up the fight! (don’t give it up, don’t give it up!)
Get up, stand up! (get up, stand up!)
Stand up for your rights! (get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Don’t give up the fight! (get up, stand up!)
Get up, stand up! ( ... )
Stand up for your rights!
Get up, stand up!
Don’t give up the fight! /fadeout/

12. I love Marley, but I still say Crossfire because so many southerners
and texans LOVE SRV!!!

Hell, I know people in Mississippi who would vote for Clark just on the basis that SRV plays his campaign song. LOL!

16. Journey reminds me of Reagan years...
I used to like Journey, but I think SRV will serve Clark better in the South and the Southwest.

And, I like Marley too.

All in all, it's a good combo of music, but he needs to walk out with Crossfire playing.

18. For something "brassy"....
there is:

"Something You Got!"

by Urbie Green
21 Trombones, Vol. I

It's an instrumental that's sassy and enthusiastic and optimistic and it stays in your mind.

To me, it would fit his campaign...

19. He needs some music with balls.
Judas Priest's "You've Got Another Thing Coming" is a good one or maybe a War Epic from Slayer or Iron Maiden.

Run to the Hills by Maiden. Clark is polling high in the Southwest because he has so much American Indian support. Woohoooo!!!

23. How about Stevie Wonder - "Big Brother"?
Your name is big brother
You say that you're watching me on the tele,
Seeing me go nowhere,
Your name is big brother,
You say that you're tired of me protesting,
Children dying everyday,
My name is nobody
But I can't wait to see your face inside my door.

Your name is big brother
You say that you got me all in your notebook,
Writing it down everyday,
Your name is I'll see ya,
I'll change if you vote me in as the pres,
The President of your soul
I live in the ghetto,
You just come to visit me 'round election time.

I live in the ghetto,
Someday I will move on my feet to the other side,
My name is secluded, we live in a house the size of a matchbox,
Roaches live with us wall to wall,

You've killed all our leaders,
I don't even have to do nothin' to you,
You'll cause your own country to fall.
