The WaPo reports that an overlooked Zogby Poll last week included the question of impeachment.

The impeachment question was part of a Zogby International poll conducted early last week, and released on Thursday.

It found that Bush's job approval ratings had slipped a point from the previous week, to 43 percent.

But the jaw-dropper was that 42 percent said they would favor impeachment proceedings if it is found that the president misled the nation about his reasons for going to war with Iraq.

"By comparison, in October 1998, as the House moved to impeach President Bill Clinton over the Monica S. Lewinsky scandal, a Zogby poll found that 39 percent of voters supported the House action, while 56 percent opposed it. . . .

14. IF Bush* was found to have lied to start the war and still 50% would not

want to impeach. The question was if Bush* was found to have lied. Not a generic would you want to impeach Bush* but If he was found to have lied to start this war and nearly 2000 Americans dead and they still would not impeach. 2. The scary part is nearly 60% don't care if he lied about Iraq

"We gotta support our Prezzadint, man! Ain't we 'Merican?"

In other words, they wouldn't support impeachment even if he killed thousands of people in a war based on false pretenses and lies he made to America and to Congress.

I guess if Bush was getting head from Jeff Gannon and lied about that they might want to impeach him?

This just shows what a crazy bunch of brainwashed shit heads these people are.

If Bush held a press conference and started eating live kittens on television, they'd still be shouting, "God Bless President Bush!"

These Republicans would sacrifice their virgin daughters to him.

In fact, they'd do anything except send their sons to fight in his war.

5. That's true at this point.

I'm not one of those running around screaming impeachment at the top of my lungs. The poll from Zogby was interesting and someone sent me the photo. I think this will continue to build up steam however and it wil interesting to watch where it goes.

Fact is there are so many issues that are being overlooked right now and we need to focus on 06!

15. This is not Sept 11th, it is way after that

In the first blush of the attacks, the nation wanted to believe that * was trying to protect it against terrorism. This is a common response to attacks in world history. Wars commonly start out with the population reeling in shock from some awful event that happened (or was orchestrated to happen.) War fever results and the populace gleefully gears up for war. Dissent is muffled, civil liberties are curtailed and only those who support the war effort are allowed to be heard.

But this doesn't last. In the US, it can last about 4 years. (I think even Vietnam started to turn sour in the minds of the populace at around the 4 year mark.) The war fever passes and efforts to rekindle it usually fail. People begin to tot up the costs and the benfits and find that the scales have heavily come down on one side or the other.

We can see if the London bombings have had any effect on *'s polling numbers in about a week. But I sincerely doubt that you will see any bounce at the recruitment offices and that is a real test of the war and the attitude toward it among the American people. I didn't hear of any significant lines at the Army's doorstep today, did you?

7. If Bush were caught on tape killing little girls and raping little boys

you would still not see any movement on impeachment. Only when Bush starts costing the rich money will you see any movement, and then he would just steal some more taxpayer money and buy his way out of it.

the good thing is, they're screwed either way: impeach Bush and let everyone know how incompetent and corrupt he is or don't impeach him and be seen as complicit in his crimes.

8. Bush took us to war under false pretenses - almost 1800 are dead

over 13,000 US> wounded & Maimed is reason ebough for impeachment -- this notion of ; well; Saddammwas a bad guy don't fly with me -- the US. should invade every country it thinks is run by a bad guy? I think Bush is a "bad guy"!!

13. Had my hopes up for a while, but it ain't agonna happen.

With Renquist (sp?) retiring, Bush will appoint a friendly chief justice. No way will he appoint a judge who might preside impartially over any (unlikely) impeachment proceedings - which have to be brought by the House of Representatives (Republican).
