Logistically, I just can't see how NY would have been able to handle it. Of course, there is the Bronx, Queens, and LI where they could have other arenas and venues, but I think other American cities would have been much more prepared. Chicago, Los Angeles...I just can't see how NY would have done it.

4. I don't blame the world...

Bush has denigrated our entire nation.

He's an immature creep acting like a cowboy on acid--on the world's stage.

He's an abomination. He's the crazy aunt that you hide in the attic--when respectable people come to visit.

Unfortunately, in our case---the crazy aunt escaped, stole an election and is now sitting in the White House.

The world hates him. The world does not have to tolerate him or rationalize his behavior--as 42 percent of our nation does.

Why in the hell should our country be honored with the Olympics when we have such a piece of trash sitting at the helm?

Our country is a disgrace as long as that little imp is sitting in the West Wing--(and probably picking his nose with a letter opener).

I love my country, but we do not deserve such an honor at this point in time.

Right now, we have a torture chamber set up in Cuba and we're murdering thousands of innocent Iraqis in a war that was based on outrageous lies. I, for one--am happy that the world decided that we aren't worthy right now.

7. Believe me, the Olympics is NOT a good thing --

I watched with horror and dismay and disgust during the entire build-up to the Atlanta Olympics a few years ago. The whole thing is:

a. Far too commercial
b. Corrupt
c. Far too commerical
d. Corrupt
e. Rinse and repeat.

The IOC members are corrupt (some if not all) and take bribes and favors and such; the way the games and all the other stuff is financed is corrupt and highly dependent on all sorts of corporate money and oh! what goes on to get that would make Tom DeLay blush.

It's ugly, ugly business, and I do mean business. The poor athletes are almost an afterthought, and they unfortunately get tarnished in the process, whether they realize it or not.

I will never again think of or feel about the Olympics the way I did before I saw far too much of it up close and personal. No way I can support the games, either.

Most cities these days lose money, and Atlanta was one of them. I don't think Salt Lake City fared so well either. Further, the inconvenience and turmoil that residents have to endure for that entire period is unconscionable. IMO New York is LUCKY not to have had to put up with all the shit.

It's time for the world to wake up to the reality.

It costs lots of money, more than is made. It causes lots of disruption, more than is recovered. Except for the coolness of saying you sponser the Olympics, I don't get what the draw is.

Every time there's some push to try to bring the Olympics to the SF Bay Area, I always hope that it fails, since we're already broke and have enough traffic. Additionally, I'm old enough to remember Munich and considering how many people hate the US and how many of them are insane, I'll pass, thanks.

businesses in Atlanta that had been there for years over their names, such as, an Olympic Pizzeria, or...an Olympic Dry Cleaners, simply because they had Olympic or Olympia in the title. Ridiculous!
