Time to end superpower myth
America has more bombs and ability to sow death and destruction than any other country. So I ask you "so what?" We are stuck in bosnia, afghanistan and Iraq, all backward primitive countries and we are getting our rear ends kicked. For all our wondrous weaponry (including a shortage of bullet proof vests and humvees made out of cardboard)we cannot fight a war (even legitimate ones) when the enemy could be anyone. The london subways were attacked - who do we hit? We waste billions in order to feed halliburton while here at home people die from lack of medication, children go to bed hungry, and our schools churn out ignorant louts. More citizens die in the USA from gunfire than others do from terrorist attacks - in fact more die per week than have soldier have died in iraq till now.
We have a burgeoning power base of ignorant superstitious cretins called the Christian right who abhor anything which isnt mentioned in the bible, thereby rejecting science and common sense.Afghanistan has its taliban, we have fundamentalists. Some muslim countries have fanatical religious leaders leading the population into violence and hatred - we have the same.
Oh please - now i have a headache.

1. Always the last to know
The superpower bubble burst awhile ago in most of the world. The US has the worlds most dangerous military, but that hasn't proved to be enough in any case in recent memory - and that military is being paid for with borrowed money, largely borrowed from China. The US is essentially bankrupt and is borrowing a few more moments in the spotlight at the expense of future generations.
