Dear Friends:
Its been an amazing week. There's growing recognition in the country that this will be one of the most important races of 2006, and you are in on the ground floor.
Just last month, the Republican National Committee put out press releases attacking Bernie by saying he was "ineffective". Bad timing – since then, adding to his long list of legislative accomplishments, he passed three key amendments in the House on issues of great importance.
From today's AP story: (

The month since the Republican Party labeled U.S. Rep. Bernie Sanders ineffective has seen the independent enjoy three substantial legislative victories. The wins came when the House adopted three amendments to three different bills on three very different subjects:
On June 15, the House voted 238-187 to restrict investigators from using the USA Patriot Act to look at library records and bookstore sales slips.
On June 29, the House voted 313-114 to prevent the Export-Import Bank from approving federal loan applications for corporations that want to construct nuclear power plants in China.
And on June 30, the House voted 238-177 to prohibit the Bush administration from privatizing 2,500 air traffic control specialists and closing 38 flight service centers in 32 states.
There were also three additional important articles – Sirota in the "Huffington Post"
(

(

(

We're still not in campaign mode yet – but we are definitely in the mode of needing your help building our grassroots across the country. If you're a regular contributor to a blog or a member of a listserv community, that's another great place to spread the word about Bernie. And PLEASE forward these articles to all your independent minded friends, and ask them to join Bernie's campaign on his web page (

Thanks in advance,
